On July 28, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations and other units coordinated to organize a meeting to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the attack on Moncada Fortress (July 26, 1953 - July 26, 2025) and launch a campaign to support the construction of solar power systems in Cuban primary schools, towards the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Cuba diplomatic relations (1960 - 2025).
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, emphasized that this is a vivid testament to the great and lasting friendship between the two peoples of Vietnam and Cuba, a sentiment that has been forged through the harsh challenges of time.
The leader of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that the Vietnam - Cuba friendship is a beautiful symbol of international solidarity, built with the blood and efforts of many generations.
Today, while Vietnam has achieved many important achievements in the process of innovation and development, Cuba is facing numerous difficulties, especially the serious energy crisis that deeply affects all aspects of people's lives, especially in the field of education .
With the spirit of mutual love, the spirit of "helping each other" and especially the loyal and steadfast love for brotherly Cuba, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association of the city call on the Vietnamese community to join hands and contribute to support the installation of solar power systems in schools in Cuba.

"Supporting the construction of solar power systems for schools in Cuba not only helps students have better learning conditions but also demonstrates international solidarity and the sharing of the Vietnamese people with Cuban friends in difficult times. This is a concrete action to continue to foster and deepen the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba, a relationship that has been tested and proven through history," Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha affirmed.
Expressing gratitude for the sentiments and humane acts of support from the Party Committee, government and people of Ho Chi Minh City to the Cuban people, Ms. Ariadne Feo Labrada, Consul General of Cuba in Ho Chi Minh City, said that today's ceremony is a celebration of the core values of humanity: friendship, solidarity and internationalism.
Over the years, Cuba and Vietnam have together cultivated a special, sincere and mutually supportive relationship in all areas. One of the most prominent areas is solidarity and people-to-people exchange - factors that help the affection between the two peoples grow stronger naturally.
Appreciating the support that Vietnam has been giving to the Cuban people, especially in the current difficult times, on behalf of the Party, Government and people of Cuba, the Cuban Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City thanked the government, business community, friends of Cuba and all the Vietnamese people, especially the Party Committee, government, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, the Union of Friendship Organizations of the city and the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City for their initiative to organize a humane campaign that brings important values to the Cuban children's generation.
Ms. Ariadne Feo Labrada expressed her belief that the relationship between Cuba and Vietnam will always be a shining example for international relations. The program to mobilize and receive support for the construction of solar power systems in Cuban primary schools is jointly implemented by the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports and a number of Ho Chi Minh City press agencies from today until November 30, 2025.
At the launching ceremony, the organizing committee received support for the construction of solar power systems in Cuban primary schools from 12 units, businesses, and philanthropists with a total amount of more than 1.6 billion VND.
