Ho Chi Minh City honors 50 outstanding construction works

In order to honor typical works, spread the architectural and technical values ​​and dedication of the city's construction team, and at the same time arouse pride in the urban development journey of Ho Chi Minh City over the past 50 years since the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee organized a vote for 50 typical construction works/clusters of works in the city.

After 3 rounds of careful selection by the City-level Voting Council, 50 works/construction clusters were honored in groups with specific numbers: Medical works/construction clusters (08); Civil - industrial works/construction clusters (05); Cultural -educational works/construction clusters (17); Infrastructure - traffic works/construction clusters (15); Housing - urban area works/construction clusters (05).

These are projects regardless of investment method, identified for investment in the Resolution of the Party Congress through the periods. The projects associated with the image of Ho Chi Minh have been awarded prestigious domestic and international awards; with the participation, contribution and dedication of many classes of people. And especially, with the nature of regional connectivity, creating a great driving force for the development of Ho Chi Minh City in particular and the whole country in general over the past 50 years.

According to Mr. Le Khac Hong - Head of the Project Management Board for the construction of the T3 passenger terminal of Tan Son Nhat International Airport (TSN International Airport), a week ago (April 19), the T3 terminal of Tan Son Nhat International Airport was inaugurated and put into operation along with more than 80 projects nationwide, aiming to celebrate the Liberation Day of the South and National Reunification.

"There have been opinions on whether to implement the T3 Terminal project or not, because we are implementing Long Thanh International Airport in parallel. Going back to the boom period of the aviation industry - 2018, 2019 - before the COVID-19 pandemic, our Tan Son Nhat International Airport only had 2 terminals T1 and T2.

Terminal T1 has a designed capacity of 15 million passengers (HK)/year, but at that time, we were handling 26 million HK/year, almost double that. Terminal T2 has a designed capacity of 13 million HK/year, but in 2019 (the peak time) it was handling 16 million HK/year.

This is also the reason why we are determined to have a spacious and modern terminal in Ho Chi Minh City. This is also the general planning of the Government , because whether there is a tourist airport or not, the planning of Tan Son Nhat International Airport must reach 50 million passengers/year.

On April 19, we considered that we had completed the planning of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, increasing the operating capacity to 50 million passengers/year, with a vision to 2050.

Ho Chi Minh City leaders presented flowers and commemorative medals to representatives of 50 typical construction projects/construction clusters.

Earlier, the same morning, the opening ceremony of the Exhibition of 50 typical construction works/clusters of works in Ho Chi Minh City took place. Images, models, artifacts, and illustrative documents of 50 typical works/clusters of works were displayed here so that the audience could clearly feel the contributions of the works to the development of infrastructure - urban areas of Ho Chi Minh City. The exhibition lasted from April 26 - 30, 2025.
