The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has just issued a decision approving the Urban Agriculture Development Program in the City for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. The city becomes a center of high-tech agriculture, an industrial and service center serving modern agriculture; ensuring connection of supply and demand of high-quality, safe agricultural, forestry and fishery goods and services according to the value chain.

At the same time, the Agricultural Development Program also creates a driving force to promote the development of agriculture in regions, areas and the whole country. Rural areas develop comprehensively, have synchronous and modern infrastructure, have a reasonable economic structure and a safe, healthy living environment, rich in national cultural identity. Farmers and rural residents have a high level of education, material and spiritual life, and are in control of the process of agricultural and rural development.

At the same time, the proportion of agricultural, forestry and fishery products produced and consumed in the form of cooperation and association reached over 40%; The city has 290 OCOP products certified with 3 stars or higher, of which at least 50% of products are certified with 4-5 stars; Forest coverage rate reached 16.24%; Rural people's income compared to 2020 increased by 2.5-3 times.

In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also determined that by 2050, the City will develop agriculture in conjunction with modern urban conditions, applying high technology and sustainability. The City's agricultural economy will integrate multiple sectors, participate in the global value chain, strongly attract investment from economic sectors; focus on producing advantageous agricultural products, linking regions into multi-value ecosystems, ensuring food security.

In particular, the proportion of agricultural services accounts for about 50% of the industry's value; making an important contribution to the green growth index and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) sustainable development standards.
