Ho Chi Minh City: From preserving to promoting heritage

The Ho Chi Minh City Cultural Heritage Conference opens a new approach, shifting from “preservation” to “creative promotion”, turning heritage into a resource for cultural, economic and urban identity development.

The Cultural Heritage Conference to implement the Resolution of the 1st Congress of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee (term 2025-2030) will take place at 8:00 a.m. on November 24, 2025 at Ton Duc Thang Museum, Saigon Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

The above information was provided by Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports (DOC) of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Minh Nhut at the Ho Chi Minh City socio -economic press conference held at the Press Center on the afternoon of November 20.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Minh Nhut, the Cultural Heritage Conference to implement the Resolution of the 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee (term 2025-2030) was held on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's promulgation of Decree No. 65/SL dated November 23, 1945 on determining the tasks of the Oriental Archaeological Academy and the 20th anniversary of Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23, 2005 - November 23, 2025).

The conference is an opportunity to comprehensively review the conservation work, museum activities, relics and intangible heritage; at the same time, identify tasks and solutions for the 2026-2030 period, with a vision to 2045, in accordance with the requirements of the 2024 Law on Cultural Heritage.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism emphasized that the Conference will open a new approach, shifting from "preservation" to "creative promotion", turning heritage into a resource for cultural, economic and urban identity development; thereby creating more motivation for the work of preserving and promoting the heritage values ​​of Ho Chi Minh City in the new period.

The event is expected to attract more than 250 delegates from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Cultural Heritage, scientists , management agencies, museums and digital transformation enterprises. To date, the Organizing Committee has received more than 40 presentations with many proposals on relic preservation, digital transformation, and promoting heritage in urban life and tourism.
