Việt NamViệt Nam26/09/2024

Overcoming unprecedented difficulties, the city's industrial and handicraft production continued to have positive movements, especially coal mining units, which demonstrated a core role in industrial economic activities, comprehensively completing all production and business tasks.

In the first 9 months of 2024, cement output is estimated at 979,000 tons, up 14.5% over the same period in 2023 (CK); wood processing is estimated at 338,000m3, up 35.2% CK; water supply is 4,618,000m3, up 17.51% CK. The indicators of coal, electricity, and brick production basically met the set targets; specifically, coal of all kinds is 5,566,000 tons, bricks are 75 million, electricity is 3.285 million kW.

The extreme weather conditions and complex developments have greatly affected coal production activities of mines. Mr. Vuong Minh Thu, Deputy Director of Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company, said: “Coal enterprises have to cope with unprecedented difficulties during the storm and the circulation of storm No. 3. The mines suffered damage to factories, equipment, power outages, communication interruptions, equipment failures, fuel costs and machinery depreciation during the temporary suspension of production…”.

After the storm, coal loading activities at Dien Cong port quickly returned to normal.
After storm No. 3, coal loading and unloading activities at Dien Cong Port quickly stabilized again.

Overcoming all challenges at lightning speed, the production lines of the Coal industry units were restored, simultaneously maintaining the work of overcoming the consequences of the storm and stable production, producing coal according to plan. The tons of coal exported after the storm were a good sign, contributing to creating more motivation for TKV and its member units to quickly recover production. Mr. Vo Khac Nghiem, Party Secretary, Director of Da Bac Logistics Company, said: Coal consumption activities have stabilized again, ready to deliver coal to Uong Bi Thermal Power Plant when needed.

With the above production movements, the city's industrial and handicraft production value (calculated at 2010 comparative prices) reached VND2,750 billion. This is an encouraging figure compared to the same period last year, demonstrating great efforts in the context of many difficulties, especially the difficulties caused by natural disasters that occurred in the past 9 months.

Implementing Resolution No. 17-NQ/TU (dated August 20, 2024) of the City Party Committee on the development of industrial parks and industrial establishments by 2025, with a vision to 2030, the city focuses on promoting investment attraction in Phuong Nam Industrial Park. To date, this park has attracted 5 secondary enterprises to enter production (4 domestic enterprises, 1 foreign enterprise).

The city newly established 128 enterprises and affiliated units, reaching 97% of the plan assigned by the province; newly established 3 cooperatives, reaching 100% of the plan assigned by the province, including many enterprises and cooperatives producing industrial and handicraft products.
