Hanoi won the award for smart management and operation city. Right in the Capital Planning for the period 2021 - 2030 and vision to 2050, Hanoi has included the phrase "Smart" in the planning. In particular, last July, Hanoi issued the Open Data Catalog. Accordingly, specialized data will be deployed and shared within state agencies and citizens and organizations in the coming time. Hanoi is also focusing on deploying digital infrastructure and Data Center to soon put into operation and use in the fourth quarter of 2023.
According to Mr. Nguyen Nhat Quang, Director of VINASA Institute of Science and Technology, the most urgent issue today is to build a unified data infrastructure - the brain of a smart city.
“In a smart city, data, information, and knowledge can and should be recorded in digital form. Thus, data capacity is the capacity to collect, store, and use information and knowledge, which determines the level of intelligence of the city. The strategy of building a unified data infrastructure will create conditions for building smart cities, developing sustainably in the long term regardless of any changes in management mechanisms, solution providers, or development indicators," said Mr. Nguyen Nhat Quang.
The Smart City Award 2023 also witnessed the development of technology solutions integrating new technology trends, especially IoT and AI. These solutions were mostly designed and developed by Vietnamese enterprises. Of the 24 digital solutions awarded the Smart City Award from 19 enterprises, there was one excellent solution voted 5 stars by the Jury for the Beca Smart City Platform of Vietnam Technology and Communications Joint Stock Company - a member of the Investment and Industrial Development Corporation - JSC (Becamex IDC).
