Experience the running route along the Tam Giang lagoon.

Scheduled for 5:30 AM on Sunday, September 3rd, 2023, at Con Toc Park by the picturesque Tam Giang Lagoon, the People's Committee of Quang Dien District, in coordination with the Hue Imperial City Running Club (HCR), will organize the first Quang Dien District Half Marathon in 2023.

The organizers hope that this first-ever Half Marathon will promote the image, land, and people of Quang Dien, as well as the local historical, cultural, and tourism potential, to people inside and outside the province. The race is also an opportunity to connect, interact, and meet running enthusiasts, working together to promote the local culture. At the same time, it aims to boost the nationwide movement "Physical training following the example of the great President Ho Chi Minh," promoting physical exercise and sports for everyone.

The highlight of the Quang Dien Half Marathon is that the course passes through most of the historical sites and famous scenic spots of the newly developed rural district of Quang Dien, with ripening rice fields and the lush green of mangrove forests along the Tam Giang lagoon. Accordingly, the Quang Dien Half Marathon route includes three distances: 5km, 10km, and 21km.

Nguyen Hai Anh, a member of HCR, said, "We were very happy to hear that Quang Dien district is organizing the Quang Dien Half Marathon 2023. With the spirit of running to challenge ourselves, spread the spirit of sports, and explore new routes, we are actively training these days to participate in the race. There are many challenging marathon routes, but the Quang Dien Half Marathon route is fantastic. The routes stretch across fields, rivers, and lagoons, making each athlete feel immersed in beautiful nature."

According to the Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee and Head of the Organizing Committee, Nguyen Tuan Anh, the Quang Dien Half Marathon 2023 is a gathering place for those who love Hue, the land, the people, and the historical and cultural values ​​of Quang Dien and Hue culture. The race also aims to inspire and create a playground for a large number of running enthusiasts in Hue in particular and the running community both domestically and internationally in general. Through the race, the image, potential, and advantages of tourism are to be promoted to friends both at home and abroad. With three race distances, the event is expected to attract 500-1,000 athletes from Vietnam and abroad to compete.

“To ensure the successful organization of the season, the Organizing Committee has meticulously prepared the necessary conditions to guarantee security, order, and traffic safety at the awards ceremony stage and along the route. The Organizing Committee has also deployed numerous photographers and videographers along the routes; arranged volunteers, medical staff, and service personnel to guide athletes at the starting and finishing points to facilitate safe and healthy journeys to the finish line for the athletes,” shared Nguyen Dinh Thong, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee.

At the Quang Dien Half Marathon 2023, athletes will take long strides along routes nestled amidst beautiful nature, immersing themselves in the wonderfully winding paths of ripening rice fields, picturesque rivers, and warm, friendly people imbued with the spirit of the countryside. Completing the race will be an unforgettable experience for each athlete, as they conquer and explore the layers of green amidst the pristine nature, the vast green of rice fields and the undulating waters of the Tam Giang River through running, a unique form of tourism and sports that is currently gaining popularity.
