On the evening of August 30, the "ASEAN Colors" Cultural Friendship Festival officially opened at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Hanoi .
Attending the event were Deputy Head of the Central External Relations Commission Nguyen Minh Tam, Member of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi Nguyen Lan Huong, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao PDR to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh, and representatives of embassies and international organizations in Hanoi.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen affirmed that friendly cooperation and regional connectivity in ASEAN continues to be one of the priorities in Vietnam's foreign policy of diversification and multilateralization.
The ASEAN Cultural Friendship Festival “Colors of ASEAN” is held in that context, as well as to celebrate the 57th anniversary of ASEAN’s founding and also the 79th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital, and the 25th anniversary of Hanoi being recognized by UNESCO as a “City for Peace ”. This is an opportunity for international friends working in Vietnam to meet and exchange friendship with the people of the Capital.
The Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee also expressed his sincere and deep gratitude to international friends for their support and assistance on the path of construction, integration and development, wishing the comprehensive friendship and cooperation between ASEAN countries to develop further, enhance cooperation and move towards building a world of peace, friendship and mutual development.
According to the Ambassador of the Lao PDR to Vietnam, Ms. Khamphao Ernthavanh, Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam and the city recognized and honored by UNESCO as the “City for Peace”, is a symbol of harmonious, diverse and inclusive values, which are also the core values of ASEAN.
For Laos, 2024 is of great significance as the country is honored to assume the role of ASEAN Chair for the third time. The Ambassador also expressed his belief that the 2024 “ASEAN Colors” Cultural Festival will be a great success, bringing many rich and meaningful experiences to the people of the capital as well as international friends.
Hanoi's attraction of international tourists thanks to its long-standing historical traditions, vibrant culture and hospitality also contributes to enhancing mutual understanding and promoting cooperation between countries, the Ambassador said.
The “ASEAN Colors” Cultural Friendship Festival, organized by the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations in collaboration with the Lao Embassy, took place from August 29 to September 1 at Thang Long Imperial Citadel to promote the image of the country, people, and cultural identity of ASEAN member countries to the Vietnamese people and international friends.
The event includes many special activities such as: photo exhibition; painting contest; booths "Integration", "Street Taste" and "Village Fragrance", folk games; children's music and dance festival; fashion show...
