Rich and diverse
With the theme “Loving Da Nang”, this year’s children’s creative camp offers an interesting and bright playground and guides children to love their homeland Da Nang.
The Organizing Committee has implemented many exciting, meaningful and creative activities for students in many localities of the new Da Nang city.
In addition to teaching and training activities in class with topics related to the artistic creation process as well as the ability to receive, conveyed by artists of the City Writers' Association and Fine Arts Association, there are also practical experience and creation activities; visiting the Da Nang Museum and Da Nang Fine Arts Museum to help students learn more about classical and contemporary art works and knowledge.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City Writers Association said: "This is the year with the largest number of students participating and the most works.
Even though the writers are learning to write at a young age, when reading, we cannot help but look for the artistic values and ideas that the work wants to convey to the recipient through the character image, expressive language and the way the work is organized.
It is the connection between the author's emotions, ideas, and artistic vision and the way each reader perceives and enjoys beauty."
The 2025 Summer Literary Creation Camp has produced many quality works that reflect a variety of themes, perspectives, and emotions of Da Nang's childhood today.
Of these, there are about 10 outstanding works that demonstrate creativity, humanistic spirit and commendable writing techniques such as: "Unsent Letters", "The Village Guard", "Wisteria Flowers of That Day", "Clouds and the Attic"... The students invested a lot of effort in writing with quite high quality content.
Regarding fine arts, artist Than Trong Dung, Chairman of the Fine Arts Association of Da Nang City commented: "The students' works praise the beauty of Da Nang City in labor production, military-civilian relations, and regional cultural festivals.
The summer camp has helped the children develop creative thinking and nurture their love of art from an early age. I hope that after this summer camp, the children will have more skills to create works, practice patience and gain more practical experience.”
A meaningful journey
After more than a month, the summer camp organizers received 160 works from students to participate in the final round, including 89 works from 40 authors in fine arts and 71 works from 42 authors in literature.
The themes of the works are quite diverse: from the daily life of rural to urban people; from real stories to fictional stories; from childhood emotions to the experiences of an adult.
As one of the students who won the highest prize at this year's writing camp, Truong Thuy Anh (class 7/1, Nguyen Hue Secondary School) shared: Maybe for many people, this is a summer program, but for me, those are very different days.
I was able to live among words, to listen to people tell the things hidden in their hearts, and for the first time I knew that writing is not just to meet deadlines, but to breathe, to understand myself and others.
“Over the past few days, I have not only learned how to write but also how to live. I have listened to stories from my friends about their incomplete childhoods, about dreams hidden under their pillows, or simply about their trembling hands when submitting their first drafts.
Each writer not only writes down what they think, but also leaves a piece of their heart in each word. In particular, we also learn how to live as a writer: persistent, straightforward and patient," Thuy Anh confided.
This is the fourth and last time that Pham Tieu Quynh (11th grade student, Nguyen Van Thoai High School) participates in this useful creative playground before entering university.
Quynh shared: “This is a meaningful journey of maturity, a beautiful memory deeply attached to my childhood and artistic journey. During the four summers accompanying the camp, I have gradually grown not only in my painting skills, but also in the way I perceive life through the eyes of a young artist...”.
Commenting on the quality of this year's creative camp, Chairman of the Union of Literature and Arts Associations of Da Nang City Nguyen Nho Khiem said that the creative camp has created a useful and healthy playground for talented children in the city.
Behind the pages, each of their works is a very separate world . Many stories have evoked profound human values about motherly love, loneliness and compassion.
“They look at life through an old camera and imagine a series of memories for the sadness of childhood. All show a very rare, very real and very touching writing ability.
We hope that next year, the creative camp of Da Nang city will have more participants, especially those in remote areas," Mr. Nguyen Nho Khiem shared.
