Teacher Sang's heart loves his students

"Hearing Teacher Sang makes me feel the spring has come", students and people in many rural areas jokingly say to each other. Because when Teacher Sang appears, he gives love to the children. Autumn is lanterns, school bags, winter is warm clothes, spring is rice, Tet candy...

MOONLIGHT SMILE OF A SICK CHILD

At the end of August 2025, Mr. Truong Chan Sang (29 years old), an English teacher at Phan Chu Trinh Secondary School, Di An Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, and also a member of the Student Cultural Committee - Ho Chi Minh City English Research and Teaching Association, called me. "Sister, this year I have a few gifts I want to send for the Mid-Autumn Festival to the pediatric patients, Department of Pediatrics - Infectious Diseases, Chanh Hung General Hospital (formerly known as District 8 Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City - NV ), please come with me", he said. Like every time, no matter how busy I am, I try to arrange my time, contribute some more gifts and bring them to the hospital with the young teacher.

When arriving at the meeting place, I saw Mr. Sang standing next to a cart full of gifts, with 100 cartons of milk, 200 moon cakes, 100 lanterns, 50 backpacks and many candies to give to children being examined and treated at Chanh Hung General Hospital. The money to buy gifts was saved by Mr. Sang from his salary; in addition, some friends who are also teachers donated to bring joy to the children. This is not the first Mid-Autumn Festival that teacher Sang has sent gifts to the Pediatrics - Infectious Diseases Department. In the Mid-Autumn Festival of 2023, he and his friends also brought hundreds of moon cakes, lanterns, milk..., together with specialist doctor II Phan Thi Thanh Ha, Head of the Pediatrics - Infectious Diseases Department, to organize an extremely touching Mid-Autumn Festival.

Doctor Thanh Ha said that in the department there are many pitiful situations. Many children live with their grandparents; many children only have their mothers, their mothers wash dishes for hire or sell lottery tickets to make a living, some children do not even have birth certificates, life is very difficult. Doctor Thanh Ha often uses her own money to buy rice and milk to give to the children. Or on Mid-Autumn Festival and Lunar New Year, the doctor calls on philanthropists to join hands to bring small joys to the children. "Teacher Truong Chan Sang is one of the philanthropists with a golden heart for the children, the gifts he gives are not only meaningful in terms of material, but also words of encouragement and inspiration to help the children have more motivation to try harder", Doctor Thanh Ha shared.

The reason why Dr. Thanh Ha mentioned "inspiration" is because teacher Truong Chan Sang is full of determination. Once an orphan, during his childhood he had to beg for every bowl of rice in the temple, he always made constant efforts and achieved the achievements he has today...

S BEAUTIFUL TUBE, IS NOT FALLING

Sang was born in Tan Uyen, Binh Duong (now Ho Chi Minh City) in a poor family. At the age of 3, his parents divorced; at the age of 6, his older brother died of a serious illness; when Sang was 13, his father passed away. A few months later, on the way to school, he had a traffic accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury. However, the tragedy did not stop there. Not long after Sang recovered, his third sister also passed away from liver disease. During those years, Sang's family was exhausted, and he had time to go to the temple to do volunteer work to have food to eat and continue going to school. Fortunately, God loved the studious boy, and Sang was loved and guided by the teachers of Huynh Van Nghe High School (formerly Binh Duong). Seeing that he had the ability to learn English well, the teachers taught Sang more English without taking any money. Sang set a goal to become a good English teacher, with a heart like the teachers who taught him.

He was active, participated in many English speaking competitions and Youth Union activities since grade 11. After that, he passed the English language exam of a public university in Binh Duong. In 2016, he passed the TESOL certificate (international certificate in teaching English) and then achieved B2 certificate from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, his dream of becoming an English teacher came true.

Previously, Mr. Sang taught English at Binh Duong Youth Activity Center and other units. Now, he is teaching grade 12 at Phan Chu Trinh Primary, Secondary and High School, Di An Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

Over the years, no matter how much money he earned, Sang saved and saved. Besides his living expenses, he always saved for charity. Sang prioritized supporting children and students because he believed that a child is like a weak sapling and if nurtured, the tree will grow strong, protecting and helping many other small trees.

MEANINGFUL GIFTS

Teacher Sang has done many good things for life. In September 2024, he and other benefactors coordinated many activities to bring a meaningful Mid-Autumn Festival to children in Ham Tan (formerly Binh Thuan province, now Lam Dong province). The program donated a bookcase to the school library and gave more than 350 gifts including moon cakes, lanterns, fresh milk and candies to students.

In October 2024, he contributed money to build a dream house for the family of Ma Thi Binh, a 2A student at Quy Quan Primary School (now in Luc Hanh Commune, Tuyen Quang Province). In the same month, he mobilized and donated resources worth a total of 500 million VND to help with post-typhoon Yagi relief in Tuyen Quang.

In November 2024, he organized a series of career counseling and orientation programs for the 2024-2025 school year, awarded "Support to School" scholarships at 6 public high schools in Dak Lak province, and awarded 120 scholarships at 6 high schools with a total value of 60 million VND. In December 2024, Mr. Sang sponsored the construction of "Beautiful School for Children" No. 59 at Suoi O village school, Quang Huy Primary School (now in Phu Yen commune, Son La province) worth 170 million VND...

In March 2025, in Gia Lai, he and other philanthropists contributed to awarding 270 scholarships worth more than 600 million VND to students at 53 high schools and Continuing Education Centers in the province. Each scholarship is worth from 2 to 2.3 million VND, including preparation courses for the Ho Chi Minh City National University's Competency Assessment exam... and many other volunteer activities.

Teacher Truong Chan Sang said that he came from a poor family, fortunately received love and care from those around him and he always tried hard to study and conquer his career dream. Therefore, when his job gradually stabilized, he vowed to continue writing dreams for girls and boys like himself in the past.

"When I see the smiles of the students receiving milk, cakes, cute backpacks, and scholarships for the new school year, my heart is filled with joy like flowers blooming every morning. I hope that with a little love, the students will be empowered to overcome adversity and achieve their dreams," the young teacher confided.
