And above all, it is the teachers who silently stick to the classroom and the villages in the great forest that are the support so that the light of knowledge never goes out.
Bringing warmth to the highlands
In the last days of November, the mountainous commune of Tra Doc ( Da Nang City) is still struggling with a series of long rains. The mountains are deeply gouged, the rocks and soil are eroded into pieces. There are still holes on the roofs, the worries of the people are along the only road leading to the commune. However, on the morning of November 21, despite the cold rainy weather, people from the lowlands crossed hundreds of kilometers of steep passes to reach this land.

That was the journey of the Thanh Nien Newspaper delegation in collaboration with Sports Marketing Software Company Limited, bringing 200 gifts including necessities and cash to teachers and students, who are recovering from the successive natural disasters.
The bus left the center of Da Nang city while it was still foggy. The further up the mountain we went, the heavier the rain became. The gloomy sky seemed to reflect the hardships that the people here had endured.
Tra Doc is used to floods, but this prolonged heavy rain has left the place almost exhausted. The school, a rare safe place for children, could not avoid "injuries". Many classrooms were flooded, books and equipment were severely damaged. When the convoy stopped in front of the commune center gate, many students and teachers were waiting. Although their faces were still clearly tired after days of facing landslides, each person's eyes still shone with an unusual warmth.

Each gift, though not large, was full of warm clothes, milk, rice, canned fish, canned meat, etc., and cash support. Each teacher and student stepped forward, returning it with a bow, a handshake, or a smile mixed with tears, creating an emotional moment. Many children stepped forward to receive the gifts with a timid look but strangely bright eyes. Some children wore sandals that did not match their pair, some had mud on their clothes. A little Ca Dong girl whispered: "The landslide caused my house to collapse, all my books were buried, but the teachers asked for a new set of books for me!"
Many teachers choked up when receiving the support, which they said came at the right time, because after many days of worrying about students and overcoming the consequences of landslides, they had almost no time to take care of their own families. To receive the support gifts, many had to wake up at dawn and take a boat across the Tranh River lake from the old Tra Bui commune. "Traveling by the lake is very familiar to most of us, but sometimes it is also very scary. But if we don't go, it would be a pity, because the gifts are not just material, they are encouragement for us to stay in the village, stay in the class, stay in the students," Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hau (teacher at Nguyen Binh Khiem Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities) said tearfully.

Gifts were also given to teachers.

Re-sowing faith in the mud
In the days after heavy rain, Tra Doc commune was surrounded by landslides. The road from the old Tra Bui to the commune center was completely isolated. The only way to supply food and provisions was by waterway. "Many people say that teachers in the highlands have a hard life, but we are used to it. The students are poor but very obedient. Today, we are very happy to receive gifts from benefactors and Thanh Nien Newspaper. Because what we received is not just a gift but also encouragement to continue to stand firm in the midst of many difficulties," Ms. Hau confided.
Ms. Ho Thi Thuong (teacher at Tra Bui Primary Boarding School) said that every rainy season, the most worrying thing is not the wetness or cold, but the landslides. Parents are afraid, students are afraid, teachers are also afraid. But closing the classroom door makes us feel sorry for the children. There were landslides that swept away a whole piece of land behind the classroom, teachers had to hurriedly move desks, chairs, books. However, a few days later, the classroom lights were on again. "What keeps us from quitting our jobs is the eyes of the students, seeing them come to class in the freezing cold, wet shirts, wet pants... makes us feel sorry. Children in this area are very disadvantaged. Thank you very much to the group. With the gifts, the children will be very happy to go to class this afternoon, now we just hope it won't rain anymore so the road won't be eroded!", Ms. Thuong confided.

Ms. Mai Vu Bich Thao, Head of Human Resources Department, Sports Marketing Software Company Limited, presented gifts to students of Tra Doc commune.

Ms. Mai Vu Bich Thao, Head of Human Resources, Sports Marketing Software Company Limited, said that the company always prioritizes going to the places that have suffered the most damage. Therefore, when we heard that Tra Doc was continuously hit by natural disasters, we decided to leave immediately. But what touched the group the most was the spirit of the teachers. They crossed the lake, overcame danger just to get to class. It is these people who are the support for children in the highlands. "Although these gifts are not of great value, we hope to bring warmth to teachers and students, so that everyone knows that none of us will be left behind no matter what the circumstances," Ms. Thao shared.

Mr. Le Nho Trieu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Tra Doc Commune Party Committee, said that the local population is over 11,000 people, of which more than 95% are ethnic minorities, people's lives are still deprived, transportation is difficult. Every rainy season, these difficulties multiply. The floods and landslides in the past few days have caused very heavy damage, hundreds of households are still isolated. Therefore, when we saw the delegation return in heavy rain and landslides everywhere, we were very appreciative.
"The gifts you give today not only have material value to help reduce difficulties but also provide great spiritual encouragement, helping teachers and students to have more confidence to continue to excel in their studies and work," Mr. Trieu emphasized and shared: "Tra Doc is still poor, far away, and has many hardships, but we feel that we are not forgotten. What we receive today is not just a gift, but encouragement to continue to stand firm."
