Tran Ly Ly and Thanh Lam were awarded the title of People's Artist.

According to Decision 1431/QD-CTN signed byPresident Vo Van Thuong on November 28, 42 individuals were awarded the title of People's Artist. This is the latest list of the second batch of People's Artist awards in 2023.

In this second batch, besides Meritorious Artist Xuan Bac, many artists were added to the "golden list" of People's Artists, including: Meritorious Artist Thanh Lam, Meritorious Artist Tan Minh, Meritorious Artist Tran Ly Ly, Meritorious Artist Trinh Kim Chi, Meritorious Artist Mai Hoa, Meritorious Artist Que Tran, Meritorious Artist Ta Tuan Minh, Meritorious Artist Lam Tung...

Meritorious Artist Tran Ly Ly was born in 1978 into a family with an artistic tradition. Her mother is a ballet dancer. Tran Ly Ly began studying dance professionally at the age of 10 and won many national young dance talent awards in 1992 and 1994.

After graduating as valedictorian of the Dance Composition Department, Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema, Tran Ly Ly received a scholarship to study abroad at Queensland University of Technology (Australia). After 7 years of studying and working in Australia and France, in 2003, despite many job offers abroad, Tran Ly Ly still decided to return home.

A series of dance works by Tran Ly Ly were released afterwards, causing a stir in public opinion: One day; Zen; 7X; Yes yes no no ... Tran Ly Ly also "covered" many fields of activity, including many times "holding the scales" at beauty contests.

At the end of 2018, Tran Ly Ly left her position as Vice Principal of the Ho Chi Minh City Dance School to Hanoi to take on the role of Acting Director of the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet (VNOB). She became the first female leader in the 60-year history of VNOB.

Under the leadership of Meritorious Artist Tran Ly Ly, in recent years, the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet has performed a series of classic works: The Sculptor, Swan Lake, Les Miserables ... Of which, Swan Lake set a record for the number of performances at the Hanoi Opera House and created a "ticket fever".

Currently, she is the Acting Director of the Department of Performing Arts (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).

Meritorious Artist Thanh Lam achieved the title of People's Artist after failing once because her application did not meet the requirements. In 2018, her mother - artist Thanh Huong - applied for her daughter, but at that time, Thanh Lam did not receive enough votes from the Ministerial Council and lacked a medal.

Thanh Lam is one of the pioneering singers who set the direction for Vietnamese pop music since the early 1990s and was a pioneer in pushing back the movement of Chinese music with Vietnamese lyrics. She is also the first independent singer to be awarded the title of Meritorious Artist by the State in 2007 for her many contributions to Vietnamese pop music.

In addition to singing, Thanh Lam also acts in films. In 2009, she appeared in the TV series 13 female prisoners . Previously, in 2001, Thanh Lam had appeared in two films , Red Stone Hero and Cyclo . In 2002, she continued to play the role of Thuy in the film Sunshine on the Head.

Meritorious Artist Tan Minh was awarded the title of People's Artist this time, after his wife, Meritorious Artist Thu Huyen, currently Deputy Director of Hanoi Cheo Theater, was also named in the list of 77 artists awarded the title of People's Artist according to Decision 724/QD-CTN signed by the President on June 22.

Tan Minh is currently the Director of Thang Long Music and Dance Theater.
