Following the success of the Veghel 2024 World Cup (ending on October 26), Vietnam's 3-cushion carom billiards team will aim to conquer the Seoul 2024 World Cup arena, taking place from November 4 to 10. The tournament taking place in Korea this time has 11 Vietnamese players participating: Tran Quyet Chien, Chiem Hong Thai, Tran Thanh Luc, Bao Phuong Vinh, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu, Nguyen Hoan Tat, Dao Van Ly, Thon Viet Hoang Minh, Do Nguyen Trung Hau, Nguyen Dinh Luan and Pham Van Son.
Among them, the most anticipated player is still Vietnam's number 1 player Tran Quyet Chien. The player born in 1984 has just won the 2024 Veghel World Cup in the Netherlands, bringing the number of championships at the World Cup arena to 4.
Tran Quyet Chien continues to conquer the Seoul Billiards World Cup in Korea
Tran Thanh Luc and Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu are worth watching. Thanh Luc has maintained a stable performance, and only lost to his senior Tran Quyet Chien in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Veghel World Cup. Meanwhile, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu had a great tournament in the Netherlands and set a new milestone in his career, finishing in 3rd place. Thanh Tu also impressed when he defeated top-class players such as Torbjorn Blomdahl (Sweden), Dick Jaspers (Netherlands) and Sameh Sidhom (Egypt).
Fans are also waiting for the return of Chiem Hong Thai. The young player born in 1999 was supposed to participate in the Veghel World Cup 2024, but withdrew at the last minute due to force majeure.
Chiem Hong Thai returns at World Cup Seoul 2024
Compared to the Veghel 2024 World Cup, Vietnamese billiards still has more than 10 players participating in the 2024 World Cup, but the lineup has changed. Notably, the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City World Cup champion Tran Duc Minh is not present. Nguyen Chi Long, who played quite well in the Netherlands, also did not participate in the tournament in Korea.
As in previous times, Tran Quyet Chien and Bao Phuong Vinh have high rankings so they are given special permission to compete from the final round (round 32) of the Seoul 2024 Billiards World Cup.
