In the qualifying round, Tran Thi Nhi Yen finished first in her run with a time of 11 seconds 59 while Shanti Pereira achieved a time of 11 seconds 40 and Liang Xiaojing conquered the "terrifying" parameter of 11 seconds 22.
Coming to today's final, the Vietnamese speed queen competed with confidence. The 20-year-old runner from Long An was constantly in the top 3, even surpassing Shanti Pereira. Maintaining a strong momentum and sprinting at lightning speed, Nhi Yen, despite being surpassed by Shanti Pereira, still excellently finished 3rd and won her first Asian athletics bronze medal in her career.
Coach Thanh Huong said that the rain before the finals affected the athletes' performance. However, Nhi Yen had a day of competition full of courage and confidence against strong opponents. It is currently raining heavily and Nhi Yen is having to undergo a doping test.
The achievement that Tran Thi Nhi Yen achieved in the Asian women's 100m final was 11 seconds 54.
Affirming her superior strength, Liang Xiaojing finished first, winning the gold medal in the women's 100m event with a time of 11 seconds 37. Shanti Pereira won the silver medal with a time of 11 seconds 41 and Tran Thi Nhi Yen's achievement was 11 seconds 54. This was not the best achievement of Nhi Yen as well as the other two athletes. According to the plan, the Vietnamese speed queen also competed in the women's 200m event.
