Inventory and identify all fishing vessels for management

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed Official Dispatch No. 198/CD-TTg requesting relevant ministries, branches and localities to focus on implementing the peak month against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and sustainable development of Vietnam's fisheries industry.

The Prime Minister requested leaders of ministries, branches and localities to resolutely direct and resolutely "declare war" on IUU fishing violations. The Prime Minister also requested the comprehensive digitalization of fishing vessel management; before October 30, a system to control fishing vessels and fishermen in the seas must be put into use.

The Minister of Public Security directed the implementation of the system for controlling fishing vessels and fishermen entering and leaving ports on VNelD, to be completed before October 30; inventory and identify all existing fishing vessels for management. At the same time, consolidate records, thoroughly handle violations of illegal fishing in foreign waters; prosecute and try cases that have been prosecuted in An Giang, Ca Mau, Ho Chi Minh City, Gia Lai provinces... and continue to prosecute, prosecute and try acts related to bringing fishing vessels and fishermen to illegally exploit seafood in foreign waters.

The Prime Minister directed to ensure that 100% of registered fishing vessels must have license plates and fishing vessel markings. Ministries, sectors and localities proactively directed specialized functional agencies to coordinate and implement drastic and synchronous measures to combat IUU fishing.
