On the afternoon of September 16, the Standing Committee of Lam Dong Provincial People's Council and the Department of Delegation Affairs, the National Assembly Delegation Affairs Committee organized a training conference to foster knowledge for commune-level People's Council delegates in Lam Dong.

The conference was held directly at the Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee hall and online at 120 locations, with the participation of more than 1,720 delegates across the province.

In his opening speech, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Council K'Mák emphasized that organizing a training conference with important and urgent contents is extremely necessary, aiming to equip the team of commune-level People's Council delegates with practical knowledge and tools, contributing to ensuring the most effective operation of local governments in the new development stage.

At the Conference, delegates were informed by experts and reporters on three topics, including: The role, functions, tasks and powers of the People's Council at the commune level in the two-level government model; The People's Council at the commune level in managing and supervising local budgets and The People's Council at the commune level in supervising socio -economic development projects.

These three core topics will clarify the role and functions of commune-level People's Councils in the new model; equip them with skills to manage and supervise transparent and effective budgets when allocated directly from the province; and provide tools to monitor socio-economic projects, from public investment to public-private partnerships, to bring practical benefits to people's lives.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Delegation Affairs Committee Nguyen Tuan Anh said that improving the operational skills of elected representatives in the current period is very important. The topics at the training course are all very necessary, he hopes that experts will regularly exchange with People's Council delegates to provide timely support during their operations.

The conference runs until September 17.
