(GLO)- On the morning of June 27, the Women's Union of Ia Grai district ( Gia Lai province) presented 6 pairs of breeding pigs to the livelihood group consisting of 6 disadvantaged women's union families of Ia Pech commune. Each pair of pigs is worth 3 million VND, weighing over 10kg/pig.
Ms. Duong Thi Mong Loan - Chairwoman of the District Women's Union said that this is a new way of supporting poor women to develop. Previously, livelihood activities were often organized individually for each household, but now they are concentrated on livelihood groups consisting of many families with difficult circumstances in a commune.

This new approach helps everyone compete, exchange experiences and knowledge about animal husbandry to escape poverty together. The livelihood group also signed a commitment that when the pigs give birth, each member will contribute 1 piglet to continue giving to other disadvantaged women members as a means of livelihood.
On this occasion, the District Women's Union also gave each family a bag of livestock feed and encouraged members to build solid barns far from their homes to ensure environmental hygiene.
