On September 21, in Nghia An commune (Nghia Lo town, Yen Bai province), the Center for Natural Resources and Environment Communication, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in coordination with Nghia Lo town People's Committee; Unilever Vietnam Co., Ltd. and Omo brand organized the tree planting program "Action for a green Vietnam".
The program is part of a series of activities responding to the campaign to plant 1 billion trees in the period of 2021 - 2025, with the desire to contribute to greening barren hills, ensuring the environment, increasing forest cover, combating climate change and at the same time creating an organic cinnamon material area, gradually reducing sustainable poverty, developing the economy and successfully implementing the master plan goals for socio-economic development of Nghia Lo Town, Yen Bai Province.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Vu Minh Ly, Deputy Director of the Center for Natural Resources and Environment Communication, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment shared: "Every year we are witnessing serious impacts caused by natural disasters and extreme weather phenomena with extremely serious consequences, more than anyone else we are more imbued with the meaning of planting trees, greening barren hills and mountains, and restoring ecosystems in all regions of the country.
Accordingly, planting trees “For a green Vietnam” for today’s and future generations is also to correct and overcome mistakes in dealing with nature over the past time, making Vietnam an exemplary model, an attractive destination for life in harmony with nature on the world map.
With the slogan "Action for a green Vietnam", Mr. Vu Minh Ly hopes and calls on every agency, organization and individual to join hands and contribute to planting more trees so that the movement can spread and develop throughout all regions of the country, making an important contribution to building an increasingly Green - Clean - Beautiful country.
Mr. Vu Duc Trung, Member of the Party Executive Committee of the Town, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghia Lo Town, Yen Bai Province shared: "Nghia Lo Town was awarded nearly 200,000 seedlings to plant forests in the 5 communes with the largest forest areas of the town. I believe that the cadres and people of the communes that were awarded trees will actively plant, care for and protect the seedlings received from this Program to contribute to improving the environment and improving the quality of life of each of our people."
Mr. Shawn Tan, Laundry Director, representative of OMO brand shared: In the context of increasingly severe environmental disasters, OMO brand wants to contribute and encourage consumers to participate in planting trees to protect forests, protect the living environment, and move towards sustainable development for the future. Therefore, OMO brand aims to plant 1 million more trees for Vietnam through the campaign "Get dirty for Vietnam Green Screen" in the period of 2021 - 2025 with the companionship and support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to inspire parents and children to join hands to create green protective forests for Vietnam.
Launched in 2021, the tree planting program "Action for a Green Vietnam" was initiated by Unilever Vietnam - OMO brand through cooperation with the Center for Natural Resources and Environment Communication , Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, committed to completing the goal of planting 1 million trees in the period of 2021-2025 focusing on protective forests, national forests, schools, and urban areas.
By the end of 2022, Unilever Vietnam and the OMO brand had planted more than 440,000 trees and sowed 60,000 seeds in 19 provinces and 9 national parks across the country, contributing to the goal of 1 million trees by 2025.
The tree donation program in Yen Bai province is the next activity in 2023. At the program, Unilever Vietnam donated 250,000 trees to representatives of Nghia Lo town, Yen Bai province and Lao Cai province, expressing the desire for socio-economic development for the people here, towards environmental protection and sustainable development./.
