More than 200 Republicans who worked for former President George W. Bush and several influential Republican senators have endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris for president.

In an open letter shared by USA Today, it is stated that for the first time, Republican members have jointly announced that they will vote for Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz in the US presidential election taking place in November. The members who signed the letter admitted that they still have disagreements with Vice President Harris and her running mate, but also noted that the alternative to Ms. Harris is "simply unacceptable". Previously, in the 2020 US presidential election, a group of former staffers of former President Bush and some Republican senators also pledged to support the Democratic presidential candidate at that time, Mr. Joe Biden.
In July, President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the race for the White House and nominated Ms. Harris as the Democratic candidate. Ms. Harris selected Mr. Walz as her running mate and accepted the Democratic nomination. Recent polls show that the Democratic ticket has a lead over the Republican ticket. However, this gap is not large and could change as we get closer to Election Day.
