Deploying the use of 16,000 doses of foot-and-mouth disease vaccine

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the provincial Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries has planned to deploy the use of 16,000 doses of foot-and-mouth disease type O vaccine in livestock farming from the national reserve to support the province.

Accordingly, the above vaccines will support pig farming households with a scale of 50 pigs or more, with priority given to households raising sows and providing breeding pigs, and having registered for raising pigs with the locality. The vaccines are 100% free of charge from the Central Government, and households will carry out vaccination themselves. The implementation period and reporting of results will be until the end of the second quarter of 2025.

Since the beginning of the year, this unit has deployed 4,701 doses of vaccine to prevent foot-and-mouth disease in pigs, 13,938 doses of vaccine to prevent blue ear disease in pigs, 4,110 doses of vaccine to prevent African swine fever, 24,925 doses of vaccine to prevent foot-and-mouth disease in buffaloes and cows, 19,440 doses of vaccine to prevent lumpy skin disease in cows and nearly 3.5 million doses of vaccine to prevent avian influenza. Vaccination helps households and livestock facilities better protect their livestock and poultry when the weather in the province has entered the rainy season.
