Exhibition "Following the General's Footsteps" comes to the people of the Cultural Village

On the morning of April 22, at the festival yard of Ethnic Village III of the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village (Dong Mo, Son Tay, Hanoi), the opening ceremony of the exhibition "Following the General's Footsteps" took place in a solemn, intimate atmosphere, imbued with culture and the spirit of sharing, exchange and connection.

The exhibition was organized by the Vietnam Women's Museum, poet, journalist, and teacher Nguyen Thi My Dung, in collaboration with the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village . 92 panels printed with many historical images of the Dien Bien Phu campaign, images of General Vo Nguyen Giap during his work, at Uncle Ho's side, with his comrades and compatriots; the General in his daily life, with the piano, in moments of meditation, in a warm family atmosphere; and images of the country and people mourning and respectfully honoring him during the days of farewell to the General...

Blending in with the atmosphere from the above photos provided by Vietnam News Agency, Vietnam Women's Museum and photographer Tran Hong are 110 simple and sincere poems by poet Nguyen Thi My Dung, conveying many events and developments in the Dien Bien Phu campaign ; many beautiful moments in the life of General Vo Nguyen Giap.

Speaking at the exhibition, poet Nguyen Thi My Dung confided: “Talking about the General as a strategic commander, excellently implementing Uncle Ho's instructions, together with the army and people creating the glorious Dien Bien Phu Victory; but I also want to write about the General with the image of an exemplary grandfather, father, uncle, respected in the family and relatives; a simple general, sociable in contact with the people, always closely attached to the compatriots”.

From 2021 to now, after the first time held at the Vietnam Women's Museum and being displayed in Dien Bien, Quang Ninh, Quang Binh - the General's hometown, this is the fifth time the exhibition "Following the General's Footsteps" has come to the public, in the space of the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition was attended by musician Do Hong Quan, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations; musician, Major General Duc Trinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians Association; journalists; many ethnic minorities living and participating in cultural activities in the Village; a number of artisans, artists, and mass actors from the Central Highlands who had just come to the Village for training and to prepare for folk art performances. Thereby, the event received a multi-ethnic color.

Poet Nguyen Thi My Dung introduced the exhibition process to staff and people at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism.

On the morning of April 22, a number of groups of visitors came to the Village to see the exhibition. Mr. Trinh Ngoc Chung, Acting Head of the Village Management Board, said that recently, especially on weekends, the Village has welcomed many groups of tourists, students, and university students to experience the culture, learn about the typical architectural works of the ethnic groups, and enjoy the performances and customs of the people.

In recent days, the Village has been organizing activities to celebrate the Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Day on April 19. The exhibition “Following the General’s Footsteps” with the meaning of commemorating the Southern Liberation Day, National Reunification Day on April 30, the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory Day on May 7, etc., will be a unique contribution to the activities at the Village.

The leaders of the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism also hope to continue to have the opportunity to coordinate with the Vietnamese Women's Museum and poet My Dung to organize activities, adding color to the destination in Dong Mo, Son Tay, Hanoi.

At the opening ceremony, the Vietnam Women's Museum and poet Nguyen Thi My Dung presented the Village with all the display panels and the book "Following the General's Footsteps" published by the News Publishing House.

Poet Nguyen Thi My Dung hopes that, with the trust of the museum and the author, this exhibition will be widely announced by the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism to visitors to the Village. Next, she hopes that the Village will preserve it well to promote the value and meaning of the exhibition.

This exhibition is expected to take place after April 30. Mr. Trinh Ngoc Chung said that he will coordinate with functional departments to preserve and organize appropriate exhibitions as a form of education on historical and cultural traditions, honoring the talented general Vo Nguyen Giap - one of the country's most prominent figures.

Honoring and contributing to conveying cultural and historical values, respecting those who have contributed to the country, that is also the thought of poet, journalist, and teacher Nguyen Thi My Dung from the General's instructions many years ago.

She said that she had the opportunity to meet, write many articles and compositions about the General. Encouraged by the General, she spent many years of her life writing articles, memoirs, and writing stories... about talented people who have contributed to society.
