The 2024 Paris Olympics are still more than a year away, but they are already rife with scandal. France's Central Office for Combating Corruption, Financial Crime and Taxation (OCLCIFF) has raided the headquarters of the Olympic organizing committee, located in Saint-Denis, a suburb of the French capital.
International and French media said that the OCLCIFF's action " was inevitable after preliminary investigations conducted in 2017 and 2022 ". They doubted the legality of the bids conducted by the 2024 Olympic Organizing Committee.

OCLCIFF said that there were “ personal interests, favoritism and embezzlement ” in these bids. In addition, the state agency Solideo, responsible for the infrastructure of the Paris Olympics, was also targeted.
All offices of Solideo and the Paris Olympic Organizing Committee were searched and documents seized. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has responded to the incident. An IOC spokesperson said: “ We are aware that police have raided the headquarters of the 2024 Olympic Organizing Committee. We have been informed by the organizers that they are cooperating fully with the authorities to resolve the matter .”
It is worth noting that Olympic organizers have often been investigated recently, with the most recent example being the scandal that unfolded in Tokyo in 2021. In February, Japanese prosecutors indicted six companies, including advertising giant Dentsu, and seven individuals on suspicion of cheating $320 million in the bidding process to host the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
