China's National Meteorological Center (NMC) said on September 21 that Typhoon Ragasa has intensified into a super typhoon, and is expected to make landfall in coastal areas from Shanwei, Guangdong Province to Wenchang City, Hainan Province from early morning to afternoon on Wednesday (September 24).

Chinese meteorologists warned that Typhoon Ragasa is moving rapidly while maintaining its intensity, becoming the strongest storm to hit China this year.

NMC noted that from September 23 to 25, heavy to very heavy rain is expected in some areas of Taiwan (China), Guangdong, Guangxi and Fujian; some areas may see rainfall of up to 280mm. Some areas in Jiangsu and Anhui provinces will also see heavy rain due to the impact of the typhoon.

Authorities in areas expected to be affected by the storm are required to take storm prevention measures, promptly evacuate people from high-risk areas, and strengthen management of traffic safety, sea tourism , and urban activities.
