Hanoi Chairman recommends people limit going out when super typhoon Ragasa makes landfall

Faced with the complicated developments of super typhoon Ragasa, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh requested authorities at all levels to closely monitor the situation, promptly inform people and advise them to limit going out during storms and thunderstorms to ensure the safety of life and property.

On September 24, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh signed an urgent dispatch requesting departments, branches and People's Committees of communes and wards to focus on implementing measures to respond to storm No. 9 (super storm Ragasa).

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, super typhoon Ragasa has the strongest wind near the storm center at level 15-16 (167-201 km/h), gusting to level 17, causing very heavy rain over a wide area, with a high risk of flash floods, landslides and inundation. It is forecasted that from September 25-26, Hanoi will have heavy to very heavy rain, with common rainfall of 80-150mm, some places over 250mm, accompanied by strong winds of level 4-5.

In response to the developments of super typhoon Ragasa, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh requested that authorities at all levels closely monitor weather developments, regularly provide information and provide guidance to people on how to avoid the storm. In particular, all levels and sectors need to be ready to organize evacuation and relocation of residents to ensure safety before the storm makes landfall.

People's Committees of wards and communes must deploy measures to protect houses, warehouses, offices, schools, and hospitals to proactively ensure safety. Arrange forces to control traffic, direct traffic, and limit people from going out during storms and thunderstorms before the storm.

Hanoi Electricity Corporation coordinates with the Department of Industry and Trade to ensure power infrastructure, promptly fix problems, and provide adequate and safe power supply for production and people's daily life. In particular, prioritize power supply to pumping stations to ensure drainage and prevent flooding in the area.

The Department of Construction presides over and coordinates with the Hanoi Green Parks and Trees Company and relevant localities and units to increase means, human resources, and equipment, ready to promptly handle fallen trees, ensure safety, and maintain smooth traffic throughout the city.
