Built on a 4.65-hectare plot of land, the center boasts a prime location with two sides overlooking the lake. The building comprises 6 above-ground floors and 1 basement floor, with a total floor area of ​​42,000 m², and was constructed at a cost of 700 billion VND, funded by a World Bank loan.

This is the first construction project to be built in the Ho Chi Minh City National University Urban Area after many years without any new construction due to legal procedural obstacles.

The center will house advanced laboratories such as: a national-level shared semiconductor laboratory, with an investment of approximately 2,000 billion VND; a system of laboratories applying biotechnology to production and daily life, with an investment of approximately 320 billion VND; and the Ho Chi Minh City National University Data Center, with an investment of approximately 100 billion VND.

In addition, the system of experimental production workshops and R&D centers collaborating with businesses of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City is also located at the Center.

With this investment, the Center for Advanced Research and Innovation will not only be a purely scientific facility but also a place connecting research, businesses, and the community, promoting the application of science and technology to socio -economic development. VNU-HCM expects to soon develop a National Innovation Center at VNU-HCM as a branch of the National Innovation Center in the Southeast region.

The facility also includes shared support areas such as auditoriums, offices, meeting rooms, and other amenities to meet the living and working needs of scientists .

According to the Director of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), Vu Hai Quan, the Center for Advanced Research and Innovation is not just a purely scientific project, but a place connecting research, businesses, and the community, promoting the application of science and technology to socio-economic development. VNU-HCM hopes to soon develop a National Innovation Center at VNU-HCM as a facility of the National Innovation Center in the Southeast region.

It is expected that the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City will begin construction of the YB1, YB2, and YB3 buildings of the University of Health Sciences in early 2025 with a total investment of approximately 500 billion VND.
