Indonesian team suffered heavy losses
On December 19, on his personal page, Hubner announced to Indonesian fans: "For those who ask when I will return, I will probably be out for 4 weeks. I have a concussion and need a lot of rest. I will be back."
In the match against U.21 Aston Villa, Hubner started, playing as a right-sided centre-back in the U.21 Wolves' 3-4-2-1 formation. He was hit in the head by Luka Lynch. The Indonesian centre-back was treated for nearly 10 minutes before being carried off on a stretcher and Lynch also received a straight red card. In this match, U.21 Wolves won 4-0. This incident happened on December 15, but it was only 4 days later that Hubner was able to speak up to reassure fans.
Hubner has been a mainstay of the Indonesian national team in recent times. The Dutch-born midfielder, born in 2001, is currently on the payroll of Wolves (England), and has played for Cerezo Osaka (J1 League) on loan.

Having to rest for 4 weeks, Hubner will not be able to return to play for the Indonesian team at the AFF Cup 2024. Initially, he and midfielder Ivar Jenner (Ultrecht Club, Netherlands) were expected to return home after December 21, in case the archipelago team reached the semi-finals.
At this time, the Indonesian team is second in Group B with 4 points, not sure of a place in the semi-finals. They are equal on points with the Myanmar team, 1 point more than the Philippines. In the final round of the group stage, coach Shin Tae-yong and his team will face the Philippines team while Myanmar will be guests at the Viet Tri stadium of the Vietnam team.
