On the afternoon of January 12 (local time), the Vietnamese team continued to practice in preparation for the 2023 Asian Cup. Before that, coach Philippe Troussier finalized the team list with 26 players, making the whole team very comfortable.
Speaking to the media before the training session, central defender Bui Hoang Viet Anh said: "After a period of training together, the whole team is now very well prepared and ready for the match with Japan. Coach Troussier also shared a lot because he understands Japan.

I think I will have very few opportunities to compete with opponents like this. This is a good opportunity for the Vietnamese team to learn. Of course, the whole team always enters the field with the highest spirit and plays with all their might."
Regarding living conditions, Viet Anh said that in the first two days, the team encountered some difficulties due to the time difference. But the weather here is quite similar to Hanoi , very cool so everything is fine. Regarding food and drinks, the organizers have prepared very well for the Vietnamese team.
At the 2023 Asian Cup, the Vietnamese team was drawn into a group with Japan, Indonesia and Iraq. Viet Anh affirmed that the team did not go to Qatar for a vacation , but aimed to pass the group stage.
"The Vietnamese team did not come to this tournament to play for fun. The whole team wants to go as far as possible. In the opening match against Japan, we will play with determination and if we are lucky, we can win or draw," Viet Anh confidently said.
Assessing the Japanese opponent, the Hanoi Police Club's central defender said: "Everyone already knows that Japanese players have affirmed their position in Asia, and many are playing in Europe. They are very strong opponents, but as I said, a player's life has very few opportunities to compete like this, so the whole team is eagerly waiting to face Japan."
Viet Anh is expected to replace Que Ngoc Hai to command the defense. The player born in 1999 believes that the important thing is that everyone must work together, aiming for the common goal of winning every match.
Finally, commenting on goalkeeper Nguyen Filip, Bui Hoang Viet Anh gave words of praise: "To me, Nguyen Filip is a very good goalkeeper. After a period of playing and training together, the two brothers exchanged a lot.
I don't know much English, but thanks to the help of the translators, now we understand each other better."
