Speaking at the ceremony, Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee, President of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association Nguyen Thi Thanh stated that Vietnam - Cambodia are two countries that share the same aspiration for peace , stability and prosperous development, and have demonstrated solidarity and mutual support in the struggles for justice. This is a priceless common asset of the two nations, and we have the responsibility and obligation to preserve and pass it on to future generations. The Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee said that the establishment of the sponsorship and support movement for Cambodian students studying in Vietnam in 2012, now called the "Nurturing Friendship" Program, is one of the efforts of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association to contribute to enhancing understanding, consolidating and strengthening the traditional solidarity and friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the people of the two countries.

The Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee affirmed that through the activities of sponsoring and supporting overseas students, the relationship between the sponsoring groups, families, individuals and Cambodian students has become increasingly close and closely connected; through the process of nurturing, the seeds of friendship have gradually grown and flourished. The results of the activities of sponsoring and supporting overseas Cambodian students have contributed practically to building a "long-lasting friendship bridge from generation to generation between the two nations and peoples".

The Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee said that, continuing the source of the good friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia, with the determination to develop the "Nurturing Friendship" Program sustainably and in depth, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association has launched the "Nurturing Friendship" movement for the period 2022 - 2027, striving to directly sponsor 80 - 100 Cambodian students studying in Vietnam each year. In the 2023 - 2024 school year, the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association has sponsored 193 students studying in Vietnam, of which 102 students in the Hanoi area were sponsored today.

In order to successfully implement the set goals in the coming time, the Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee hopes to continue to receive the direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels; the active support of the Cambodian Embassy in Vietnam; the companionship, support and facilitation of agencies, organizations and unions at the central and local levels, and the community of entrepreneurs and enterprises.

The Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee believes that with a firm belief in the common ideal and the strong friendship between the two peoples of Vietnam and Cambodia, the people of the two countries will vow to jointly preserve the invaluable assets of the two brotherly peoples and continuously nurture and inspire future generations to preserve and cultivate the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship to be forever green and everlasting.

Speaking at the ceremony, Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam Chea Kim Tha said that the traditional relationship between Cambodia and Vietnam has always been preserved and continued to be nurtured through official delegation exchanges, work and experience exchanges between ministries, departments, and branches at provincial and municipal levels, especially through official visits by high-ranking leaders of the two countries in recent times.

Thanking the parents for accepting the Cambodian students as their godchildren, the Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam believes that the godparents, with their love, care and sharing, will accompany and help their children both in their studies and in their daily lives in Vietnam. At the same time, he suggested that the Cambodian students should listen to the teachings and advice from their godparents seriously and respectfully; share knowledge about the good traditional culture of the Cambodian people with their godparents and friends in Vietnam, as well as try to study, absorbeducation and knowledge about the traditional culture of the Vietnamese people so that mutual understanding becomes deeper and broader. Thereby, contributing to further promoting the traditional friendship and solidarity between Cambodia and Vietnam, as neighboring countries moving forward together for development, prosperity and sustainability.

On this occasion, Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee, President of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Association Nguyen Thi Thanh cut the ribbon to inaugurate the installation of equipment for the Cambodian student dormitory at Friendship School 80, Son Tay, Hanoi.
