Bus trips home for Tet

The school hired buses to take 140 students from seven provinces in the Central and Central Highlands regions back to their hometowns. The buses will travel along two routes: Khanh Hoa – Phu Yen – Binh Dinh and Dak Nong – Dak Lak – Gia Lai – Kon Tum. The buses are expected to depart on the afternoon of January 5, 2025.

For the remaining students, the school will support them with transportation costs so that they can proactively buy tickets to go home during Tet. These students come from more than 40 provinces and cities across the country. The total budget the school has set aside to support students is more than 500 million VND.

Dr. Nguyen Tan Trung - Director of the Student Care Center, Van Hien University - said that the school has a program to give free Tet bus tickets to students in need of support in addition to the support program for students in difficult circumstances.

Students who find themselves in difficulty and need help for this Tet season can register through the channels of the Student Care Center or the Union or Association.

“When registering, students will need to clearly state their circumstances and wishes. Based on that, the school will provide the most timely assistance to them,” said Mr. Trung.

Master Tran Quoc Dat - Deputy Head of Student Affairs Department, University of Science (Ho Chi Minh City National University) - said that this year the school will continue to support students and introduce them to participate in the "Spring Bus Trip" program. This is an annual activity of Ho Chi Minh City National University. In addition, in special cases, the school will find other sources to arrange bus tickets for students to return home for Tet.

“For students who do not return, the school will visit and give them Tet gifts. The school will visit students who are staying in dormitories and those who are staying in rented accommodation. According to the initial survey, up to now, about 37 students will stay to celebrate Tet in Ho Chi Minh City,” said Mr. Dat.

Meaningful Tet

According to MSc. Nguyen Tien Khoi - Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Finance - Marketing, this year the Youth Union is expected to implement a program to give Tet gifts to disadvantaged students. The expected number will be 50 gifts, to help students have meaningful Tet gifts to bring home to their families.

In addition, the School Union plans to carry out activities in the series of programs Far from home, happy Tet. The program will count students from other provinces who choose to stay in Ho Chi Minh City to celebrate Tet and take care of their friends. It is expected that there will be cultural programs and collective Chung cake wrapping activities.

The banh chung will be given to you to add to the Tet atmosphere, and will also be given to the school security guards - who also have to be on duty during Tet, and to the disadvantaged people in the area.

MSc. Truong Quang Tri - Head of Student Affairs Department, Nguyen Tat Thanh University - said that besides taking care of students, the school also hopes that students will have many meaningful activities for the community before returning home to celebrate Tet with their families. Therefore, during this Tet holiday, the school deployed many student teams to participate in activities such as cleaning the streets, visiting people with meritorious services, giving gifts to poor households, etc.

These activities are carried out by students in many districts in the city, from inner-city districts near the school such as District 4 to remote areas such as Can Gio.

“The activities are all voluntary, and every year we see a large number of students wanting to participate. Most of them want to contribute a small part to the city’s Tet holiday,” said Mr. Tri.

Students get Tet bonus of 10 million VND

Dr. Dong Van Ngoc - Principal of Hanoi College of Electromechanics - said that due to the characteristics of the college system, many students of the school are doing internships at enterprises or studying semesters at enterprises. Therefore, the Tet regime for them will also be guaranteed by the enterprise, because they are also employees in the enterprise.

Mr. Ngoc said the school discussed with businesses from the beginning of the school year and asked businesses to clearly stipulate in the contracts signed between businesses and students, regulations on Tet benefits.

This Tet, some students of the school are expected to receive Tet bonuses from businesses of more than 10 million VND.

Teachers contribute Tet gifts for students

MSc. Nguyen Thuy Vuong Khanh – Director of the Center for Communication and Admissions, Ho Chi Minh City College of Economics – said that this year the school has launched programs for lecturers to participate in contributing to giving Tet gifts to students. These are personal gifts from the teachers themselves.

In previous years, this contribution could be used to buy flowers for Tet decoration, but now it is given to the students. The gifts are expected to arrive after the students have completed their semester exams.
