Ms. Duong Kieu Van (a parent whose child studies at Tay Mo Primary School) said that since October 1st, the entire school has switched to online learning. During the day, teachers assign homework, and parents print out the questions for their children to do by themselves. In the evening, the children study online for about an hour. During this time, students learn new knowledge, have their homework corrected, and have some interactive activities with teachers.
“My child really looks forward to the day he can go to school to see his friends. Every day he asks when he can go back to school,” said Ms. Van.
The reason students are still studying online is because the school campus is still flooded and the water has not completely receded. In addition, many students and teachers of the school live in deeply flooded areas in the area, making travel and daily activities still difficult.

Speaking to VTC News, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha - Principal of Tay Mo Primary School said that the heavy rain on September 30 caused water to flood the first floor of classrooms. The school yard and the road leading to the school were flooded up to 1 meter deep. The school had raised and protected students' belongings and books, but they could not avoid damage.
As the floodwaters receded, the school mobilized teachers, parents and many other forces to clean up the campus. The most difficult task was to clear mud and sand from classrooms, hallways and schoolyards. By the afternoon of October 10, the restoration work was completed, ready to welcome students back next Monday.

“During online learning, many teachers in flooded areas with no electricity had to go to places with electricity to teach. During the day, parents go to work, so online classes are often held in the evening. Some teachers had to wade through the water in the middle of the night after teaching. Many parents said their children wanted to go to school to see their friends ,” the female principal said.
