On the afternoon of October 10, the People's Committee of Ca Mau province coordinated with the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission to hold a press conference to inform about the first Provincial Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030.
Mr. Ho Trung Viet, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, said that this Congress is the first congress of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee after the merger, which has a particularly important meaning, marking a historic turning point in the development process of the southernmost province of the Fatherland.
“The congress is not only an important political event but also opens an era of national development, demonstrating modernity when all data is digitized, no paper is used in management and discussion,” Mr. Ho Trung Viet emphasized.
Ready for the big political event
As planned, the 1st Congress of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee will take place in 2 days, October 16-17, at the Provincial Convention Center (An Xuyen Ward, Ca Mau City). The preparatory session will take place on the morning of October 16 and the official opening session will begin at 8:00 a.m. on October 17.

With the motto "Solidarity - Democracy - Responsibility - Breakthrough - Development", the Congress has the theme: "Promoting the heroic revolutionary tradition and solidarity; building a clean and strong Party and political system; making breakthroughs in science - technology , innovation and digital transformation; taking advantage of opportunities, advantages and potentials of the southernmost province of the Fatherland for comprehensive development; confidently entering a new era with the whole country".
The congress was attended by 450 delegates, including 53 ex-officio delegates, 397 official delegates and 71 alternate delegates representing 68 delegations.
The main content of the Congress is to summarize the implementation of the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, set out directions, goals and tasks for the 2025-2030 term, and discuss and contribute ideas to draft documents to be submitted to the 14th National Party Congress.
The Congress will also announce decisions appointing the Executive Committee and Standing Committee of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term and elect delegates to attend the 14th National Congress of the Party.
According to the draft Political Report, from July 1, 2025, Ca Mau province (after merging with Bac Lieu province) will officially come into operation, opening up a new development space with greater potential, playing the role of the southernmost dynamic region of the country.
The Congress took place in the context of complex changes in the world and the region, but Vietnam has achieved great achievements after 40 years of renovation, creating a foundation to enter a new period of development - the era of the Vietnamese nation's rise.
With a strong aspiration to rise, Ca Mau aims to become the growth pole of the Mekong Delta by 2030, a center of rapid, sustainable, and comprehensive development, entering a new development stage with the whole country.
Marks of the 2020 - 2025 term: Comprehensive breakthrough
During the last term, Ca Mau achieved many outstanding results in the fields of politics, economy, culture and society.
Party building work is focused on improving the leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party organizations; firmly upholding the goal of national independence associated with socialism, promoting 4 steadfastnesses in ideology, guidelines and principles of Party building.
Ca Mau province's economy maintains an average GRDP growth rate of more than 7%/year, the economic structure has shifted positively, and economic pillars have gradually formed and become effective.
Agriculture has developed steadily, adapting to climate change; aquaculture - especially shrimp - continues to play a key role. High-tech shrimp farming models have been effective, increasing value and productivity. Events such as the Ca Mau Shrimp Festival and the Ca Mau Crab Festival have contributed to promoting and affirming the position of "the shrimp capital of the country".

The province also builds and protects agricultural product brands, promotes geographical indications, OCOP products, and expands domestic and foreign consumption. Forest protection and development work is associated with eco-tourism and community tourism, gradually forming a green and sustainable economic model.
The processing and energy industries continue to be growth drivers. Currently, the province has more than 80 seafood processing factories for export, with a total designed capacity of 500,000 tons/year; Ca Mau gas - electricity - fertilizer clusters operate effectively with a commercial gas output of 10 billion m³, electricity of 25,633 million kWh, and fertilizer of 5 million tons.
Notably, 16 wind power projects with a total capacity of 870 MW and more than 2,800 rooftop solar power systems have been put into operation, affirming Ca Mau's pioneering role in developing renewable energy.
Tourism also made its mark when the province had 12 typical destinations recognized, attracting more than 29.6 million visitors in 5 years, with revenue reaching more than 30,600 billion VND. Many famous destinations such as Dat Mui, U Minh Ha, Hon Da Bac, Dam Thi Tuong... are becoming eco-tourism symbols of the Southwest region.
Vision to 2030: Ca Mau - new growth pole of the Mekong Delta region
Entering the 2025 - 2030 term, Ca Mau identified 5 development perspectives, 6 key tasks, 3 breakthroughs and 22 comprehensive targets on economy, society, environment, national defense - security and Party building.
The general goal is to build a clean and strong Party organization and political system, improve leadership capacity, effectiveness and efficiency of management; develop science and technology, innovation, digital transformation and the private economy to become the main driving force for development.
Three major breakthroughs include: Institutional breakthrough - perfecting policies and laws, creating a favorable environment to attract investment, promoting digital economy, green economy, logistics and eco-tourism.
