Son Tay High School officially becomes a specialized school

The Hanoi Departmentof Education and Training has just announced and awarded the decision to reorganize Son Tay High School into Son Tay Specialized High School, the 4th specialized high school in Hanoi.

On February 14, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced and handed over the decision to reorganize Son Tay High School into Son Tay Specialized High School to the school's leaders.

Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong asked Son Tay High School for the Gifted to clearly define its goals and specific solutions to build the school into a high-quality, key educational institution of Hanoi and the whole country.

The school also needs to proactively coordinate with relevant units to increase investment in facilities, rebuild the organizational structure, continuously improve the quality of management staff and teachers; proactively implement solutions to attract excellent junior high school students to the school's specialized classes from the 2025-2026 school year.

Son Tay High School was established in 1959. Since 1992, the school has established an additional system with the first 3 specialized classes: Math, Computer Science and Literature, until 1996 when it was temporarily suspended. Since May 2004, the school has been allowed to reopen the specialized system. In recent years, the school's annual scale has been stable with 27 specialized classes and 18 non-specialized classes.

Previously, on February 13, the leaders of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced and handed over the decision to reorganize Chu Van An High School into Chu Van An Specialized High School.

Accordingly, Hanoi officially has 4 specialized high schools, including: Hanoi-Amsterdam Specialized High School, Nguyen Hue Specialized High School, Chu Van An Specialized High School and Son Tay Specialized High School.

With the status of specialized high schools, from the 2025-2026 school year, Chu Van An High School for the Gifted and Son Tay High School for the Gifted will only enroll specialized students.
