On the morning of February 1, the funeral of pilot Tran Ngoc Duy, who died in a Su-22 plane crash during training in Yen Bai on the afternoon of January 31, was solemnly held at the Funeral Home of Yen Bai Provincial General Hospital.

The funeral of pilot Tran Ngoc Duy was held this morning in Yen Bai.

According to information from the funeral organizing committee, the visitation will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The memorial service will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. The funeral of pilot Tran Ngoc Duy will be held on February 2, and will be buried at the Martyrs' Cemetery in Thai Nguyen province.

At the funeral, information from the organizing committee said that the Ministry of National Defense decided to posthumously promote the officer rank from captain to major ahead of schedule for pilot Tran Ngoc Duy.

Major Tran Ngoc Duy was born in 1992, residing in Yen Bai City (Yen Bai Province). He studied military aircraft piloting at the Air Force Officer School.

Major Tran Ngoc Duy has held the following missions and positions: pilot, Squadron 2, Regiment 937, Division 370, Air Defense - Air Force; pilot, Deputy Squadron Leader of Squadron 1, Regiment 921, Division 371.

After that, Major Tran Ngoc Duy was Deputy Squadron Commander - Chief of Staff of Squadron 1, Regiment 921, Division 371, Air Defense - Air Force. During the course of his duties, he accumulated a total of 725 hours and 25 minutes of flight time.

In 2020, Major Tran Ngoc Duy achieved excellent results in his work, was awarded the title of Emulation Fighter of the Base in 2020 and was promoted ahead of schedule in 2021, from the rank of First Lieutenant to Captain.

Previously, yesterday afternoon, January 31, the Ministry of National Defense informed that at 12:09 on January 31, Su-22 aircraft, serial number 5873 of Air Force Regiment 921, Division 371, Air Defense - Air Force, piloted by 3rd class pilot Captain Tran Ngoc Duy took off on the first flight, training flight number 206.

At 12:27, while landing, the plane crashed. Pilot Tran Ngoc Duy was ordered to parachute but tried to save the plane, however the plane later crashed and the pilot died.
