A cohesive team
62 games played, one final left, 192 goals scored and nearly 2.5 million spectators in attendance. The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup raises more questions than it answers. But when it comes to determining the world's best team, there's little room for debate at this point.
Any lingering doubts were swept away in the stifling heat of East Rutherford, New Jersey, as PSG stunned Real Madrid with two goals in the first nine minutes through Fabian Ruiz and Dembele in the semi-final.
The third goal was a masterpiece, starting from a beautiful combination and ending with Achraf Hakimi's sprint down the right flank and the pass that set up Fabian Ruiz to score, before Ramos struck in the 87th minute to make it 4-0.
“A perfect victory," said Fabian Ruiz, the hero with a double. Coach Luis Enrique also had nothing to complain about: "A beautiful match."

Since the start of the year, PSG have reached heights that even coach Luis Enrique admitted have exceeded expectations. After winning the Champions League for the first time in their history, PSG are aiming for an international double. And their determination to show that couldn't be clearer.
PSG of previous years, as described by President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, was a team with a glittering star cast: Neymar, Mbappe, Messi... but always lacked cohesion and could not conquer the biggest titles.
Now a youthful squad, wisely rebuilt by sporting director Luis Campos and led by talented coach Luis Enrique, they have a versatile possession-based midfield that is also not afraid of challenges, and explosive, fast and creative full-backs and wingers.
The loss of Kylian Mbappe, the club's all-time leading goalscorer, to Real Madrid last summer was seen as a shock. However, that departure has made PSG more balanced, more cohesive, and has created great chemistry on the pitch.

A complete and fearsome PSG
It is easy to forget that PSG have been great over the past decade, both before and after Mbappe arrived from Monaco in 2017. But they have never been as unstoppable as they are now.
Last European season saw PSG defeat Man City, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Arsenal and then destroy Inter Milan 5-0 in the most "one-sided" Champions League final in history.
PSG have realised their goal of winning the Champions League, a dream that has haunted them since Qatar Sports Investments bought the club in 2011, just as Chelsea were haunted by the European dream under Roman Abramovich.
Winning the FIFA Club World Cup, even on an expanded scale, would hardly have the same significance given the fact that the three champions of La Liga, Premier League and Serie A, Barcelona, Liverpool and Napoli, are not present.
Meanwhile, less famous names such as Wydad AC, ES Tunis, Inter Miami or Red Bull Salzburg appeared. It is difficult to call this "the 32 strongest teams on the planet" as FIFA President Gianni Infantino once affirmed.

However, there are rare moments in history where no trophies or statistics are needed to confirm who is the number one team. Like Barcelona under Pep Guardiola, or Man City recently. And PSG is currently one such example.
No one would dare say the FIFA Club World Cup final against PSG is an easy match, but Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca admits his side are still in the process of finding their identity and facing an opponent like PSG is a big challenge.
They are a well-rounded team: effective pressing, precise passing, full-backs constantly pushing forward, and strikers like Dembele, Doue or Kvaratskhelia always sharp in the final third of the field.
PSG not only won, but they won in a way that made people admire. This seemed to be PSG's year, the moment of a young team coming of age and establishing a new order for the rest of the football world.
