"Shake off the mud and stand up shining"

From that momentous historical moment, the Vietnamese people "rose from the mud and shone brightly", escaped the long night of slavery, regained independence and freedom for the country, and established a new Vietnam - the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

And to “maintain that freedom and independence”, the entire Vietnamese people had to continue the 30-year long struggle against the most powerful colonial and imperialist forces, associated with brilliant feats of arms: the Dien Bien Phu victory on May 7, 1954, “resounding throughout the five continents, shaking the earth” and the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign on April 30, 1975, completely liberating the South, unifying the country, successfully ending the resistance war against the US to save the country.

50 years of national peace and unity are 50 years of the entire Party and people embarking on a journey full of hardships and difficulties to overcome the severe consequences of war and the socio-economic crisis in the country, overcoming the challenges of the times when the socialist regime in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe collapsed. Through the comprehensive renovation policy since 1986, Vietnam has gradually risen up. After nearly 40 years of implementing the renovation policy, under the leadership of the Party, our country has established an extremely proud foundation and position, trusted by the people of the whole country and admired by international friends. Today, the two words "Vietnam" are not only a symbol of an indomitable and resilient spirit, but also a symbol of a spirit of innovation, creativity, proactiveness, and positivity in international integration and an important link in the global supply chain.

“More decent, bigger and more beautiful”

Today, our country has truly become “more dignified and more beautiful” as President Ho Chi Minh wished, and the whole nation is preparing to enter a new era - the era of striving to build a strong and prosperous country, becoming a modern, civilized nation, with a prosperous and abundant life for the people based on “four pillars”: Developing science and technology, innovation, digital transformation; International integration; Building and perfecting legal institutions and developing the private economy.

Vietnam today has a new look, a new stature with a spirit of autonomy, confidence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, and national pride. The whole country has completed the arrangement and merger of provinces and centrally-run cities; merged communes, and no longer organized at the district level, leaving 34 provincial-level administrative units and 3,321 commune-level administrative units. This can be likened to the country "refining" itself to be able to go further, faster, and keep up with the urgent pace of the times. The country is facing new opportunities and fortunes to accelerate, rise to become a developed country, and escape the "middle-income trap" - a huge risk if we are complacent with ourselves and continue to follow inertial paths.

This can only be achieved when science and technology resources become the main driving force of development; at the same time, there is an increasing emergence of new production and business models from start-up and creative ideas from individuals/groups of individuals in society. To liberate all national resources, the most important requirement is to build and create a transparent, public, and accessible legal environment for all people and businesses. And in the context of increasingly strong globalization and an inevitable and irreversible trend, Vietnam has, is, and will position itself in a world of many fluctuations and instabilities.

The Vietnamese people, with their thousands of years of history and culture, are a symbol of the whole world in terms of self-reliance, independence and freedom; with their own bravery, intelligence and unique cultural identity - open to all but still very unique, proud of their traditions but ready to accept new things, will certainly succeed on the path to prosperity, power and modernity, so that the two words "Vietnam" will forever resound far and wide and be the pride of "children of Lac and grandchildren of Hong".
