On the Ho Chi Minh City side, there were comrades: Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Duong Anh Duc, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; Le Hoang Hai, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Secretary of Con Dao Special Zone; Nguyen Truong Nhat Phuong, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council; Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

From early afternoon, the bustling atmosphere covered the streets around the book fair area. People, from the elderly to children, eagerly poured into the exhibition area, waiting for the evening art program. Many foreign tourists also joined the crowd, wearing red scarves with yellow stars, recording the vibrant moments of the cultural festival.

Arriving early with her two children, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong (44 years old, resident of Con Dao) shared that the book fair is the event that people have been looking forward to the most in the past few days. Living on a remote island, she said that meaningful programs like this bring a feeling of warmth and closeness, helping the community to connect and be more proud of the sacred land where they live.

In his opening speech, Mr. Tran The Thuan, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, affirmed that the book fair is not only a place to display and introduce valuable books and documents, but also a cultural activity of profound significance. The event contributes to promoting the value of revolutionary history, enhancing reading culture, connecting the past - present - future; at the same time, promoting the image of Con Dao, attracting tourists, stimulating tourism and promoting socio -economic development.

Con Dao Book Fair with the theme "Legend of Con Dao" is organized by the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, chaired by the Department of Culture - Sports in coordination with publishing and book distribution units and local authorities.
The book fair aims to affirm the role of books in connecting the past - present - future, while welcoming the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Congress of Delegates (2025-2030) and celebrating the 73rd anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnamese Publishing, Printing and Book Distribution Industry (October 10, 1952 - October 10, 2025).
At the opening ceremony, a fundraising campaign was launched to support people affected by storms and floods.
On this occasion, Con Dao Special Zone also received a series of supports from social resources such as: The Organizing Committee of the Book Fair donated 2,500 paper books and e-books; The Truth National Political Publishing House, Ho Chi Minh City branch, donated 8 sets of books on Vietnam's military history; Saigon Giai Phong Newspaper donated 300 warm coats to students of schools in Con Dao area...
