Comrade Cam Thi Huyen Trang, Vice President of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, informed: The whole province has over 61,000 youth union members. Accompanying the youth in economic development, the Provincial Youth Union directs the grassroots youth unions to step up propaganda, support union members in restructuring crops and livestock; build collective economic models; coordinate with functional sectors to train and transfer production science and technology, vocational training, job creation, create conditions for young union members to borrow capital to develop production, business, promote and connect product consumption.
Over the past year, the Provincial Youth Union has organized 2 startup idea competitions, attracting more than 600 young union members to participate, of which 26 ideas were supported by the Youth Union and Association at all levels for practical implementation; organized 2 startup forums attracting more than 2,100 young people, creating an environment for sharing, connecting and career orientation. Propaganda and dissemination of knowledge about startups, career establishment, loan policies, and market support are maintained regularly on digital platforms. Since the beginning of the year, it has coordinated to organize career counseling for more than 13,900 young union members; introduced jobs to more than 8,000 young people; Organized 20 training courses on science and technology transfer, business start-up guidance and product consumption... The Youth Union bases also took on the responsibility of the Social Policy Bank and the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development for more than 29,000 Youth Union member households to borrow capital for economic development, with a total outstanding loan of more than 1,690 billion VND.
With the support of the Youth Union, the efforts, dynamism and creativity of the Youth Union members, more and more effective youth start-up models have emerged. The whole province has over 80 cooperatives, more than 740 members; maintaining 59 cooperative groups with 515 members owned or co-founded by Youth Union members, with an income of 150 million VND/year/member or more. Typical examples include the coffee growing model of Mr. Lo Van Cuong, Hon village, Phong Ly commune; growing hawthorn and raising local black chickens of Mr. Thao A Hong's family, Cha May village, Long He commune; growing early ripening longan of Mr. Cam Van Phuc's family, Chieng Xom village, Muong Hung commune; growing oranges and tangerines of Mr. Lo Van Duong's family, Na Mon village, Sop Cop commune...
In Na Lua village, Muong Hung commune, Mr. Lo Van Hung is one of the typical young people who started a business by exploiting the potential and strengths of the locality to build a fruit tree growing model. In 2019, realizing that the early-ripening longan and green-skinned grapefruit varieties were suitable for the climate and soil conditions in the village, and had high economic value, he discussed with his family to borrow 150 million VND from the Social Policy Bank to invest in seedlings and improve more than 2 hectares of upland land to grow longan and green-skinned grapefruit. Mr. Hung shared: I actively participated in training courses organized by the Youth Union in coordination with specialized agencies, proactively learned from books, newspapers, and mass media, to apply techniques to care for longan and grapefruit. Up to now, the family's fruit tree growing model has brought in an income of more than 300 million VND/year.
Lo Van Minh, in Phieng Hung village, Muong Bu commune, started his business with a model of growing fruit trees combined with raising livestock. In 2014, with his family's savings of 200 million VND, he and his family renovated more than 3 hectares of upland land to grow lychee, mango, longan and nearly 1,000 m² of fish pond. Minh shared: Up to now, the model has generated an income of nearly 400 million VND/year, creating seasonal jobs for 3 local workers with a salary of 200,000 VND/day.
Promoting the achieved results, the Youth Union organizations in the province continue to promote programs to support young people in economic development towards digital transformation and circular economy; focus on supporting the building of agricultural product brands, QR codes for traceability, livestreaming online sales, connecting e-commerce; receiving loan capital entrustment so that young people have access to effective economic models. From there, promote the role of young people in actively developing the economy, striving to build a rich and beautiful homeland.
