On the evening of June 29, the Vietnamese women's football team had a favorable opening day when they won 7-0 against Maldives right at Viet Tri Stadium ( Phu Tho ). In this match, coach Mai Duc Chung used the B team, giving opportunities to many young players such as Tran Thi Duyen, Ngoc Minh Chuyen, Ngan Thi Van Su...
Right from the first minutes, the Vietnamese girls showed their superiority in class, completely dominating the game against a much weaker Maldives. In the 7th minute, Ngoc Minh Chuyen made an accurate cross from the left wing. The ball hit a Maldives player, changed direction, and Ngan Thi Van Su quickly seized the opportunity, jumping high to head the ball to open the score 1-0 for the home team. Just three minutes later, in the 10th minute, Ngan Thi Van Su continued to shine with a beautiful long-range shot from an open position to complete her double for the match.
In the 13th minute, a failed clearance by the Maldives defense accidentally brought the ball to Bich Thuy. The Vietnamese midfielder did not miss the opportunity, finishing decisively to score the third goal.
The pressure continued, and in the 24th minute, Nguyen Thi Van neatly controlled a pass from the left wing before unleashing a dangerous shot, raising the score to 4-0. In the 30th minute, after an unsuccessful combination in the penalty area, the ball bounced out to the 16m50 area, and My Anh quickly kicked the ball to score the fifth goal. In the 44th minute, Ngoc Minh Chuyen completed an impressive half when receiving a pass from Nguyen Thi Van, accelerating and tapping the ball close to the goal, setting the score at 6-0 for the first half.
However, despite scoring six goals, the Vietnamese team still missed many good opportunities, such as Bich Thuy's low shot from a distance in the 8th minute that missed the post or Thai Thi Thao's shot that hit the crossbar in the 34th minute. Coach Mai Duc Chung seemed unsatisfied with his players' ability to take advantage of opportunities.
In the second half, coach Mai Duc Chung sent two pillars Huynh Nhu and Hai Yen onto the field to increase the attacking power. Although still controlling the match, the home team's finishing efficiency was not as expected, especially with Huynh Nhu.

In the 68th minute, Huynh Nhu continued to have a chance when controlling the ball and turning to shoot, but once again, Leeza successfully blocked it, preventing the number 9 of the Vietnamese team from scoring the first goal of the match.

Meanwhile, Hai Yen left her mark in the 66th minute. From an accurate cross from Tran Thi Duyen on the left wing, Hai Yen observed well, cut in and headed the ball dangerously, raising the score to 7-0. This was also the last goal scored in the match. In the last minute, Vietnam was awarded a penalty but Huynh Nhu kicked the ball off the post and flew out.
As for Maldives, they played harder in the second half with many successful saves. However, with the clear difference in class, the players in blue could not score any honorable goals.
