Admission to 'hot' schools in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City

The People's Committee of District 1, Ho Chi Minh City has just announced regulations on enrollment for kindergarten, primary and secondary schools for the 2025-2026 school year.

District 1 People's Committee requires parents to register for primary school admission online at https://tuyensinhdaucap.hcm.edu.vn through the student's identification code.

There are 2 types of admission objects, including:

Subject 1: Priority admission for the following cases:

• For grade 1: Students have "current residence" within the area and are within the prescribed age.
• For grade 6: Students whose "current residence" is within the area, have completed primary school and are within the prescribed age.

Subject 2: Students who wish to study in an area other than their actual residence, in order to facilitate parents in picking up and dropping off their children, priority will be given to admission in the following order:

• Students who have completed preschool or primary school in the district.
• Students whose father or mother works at agencies or organizations in the political system in the district.
• Students whose "current residence" according to VNeID falls within the boundary areas between districts.
• Students transfer provinces.

Non-priority cases will be considered later, based on the remaining quota of the school. Students in category 2 must ensure that they register for admission on the city's primary admission system.

Nguyen Du Secondary School recruits 6th grade students with the admission condition that students have a final exam score of 10 in both math and Vietnamese.

Admission results are announced online on the city's admissions page.

High quality school admission

At preschool level: Be Ngoan Kindergarten, Ben Thanh, 30/4 continue to implement the model of advanced schools, international integration, city-wide enrollment.

This model at the primary level has Nguyen Thai Hoc Primary School, at the secondary level has Huynh Khuong Ninh Secondary School.

Admission to foreign language programs

French enhancement program held at Ket Doan Primary School and Tran Van On Secondary School.

The integrated English program is organized at primary schools Dinh Tien Hoang, Nguyen Binh Khiem, Hoa Binh , Le Ngoc Han, Tran Hung Dao, Luong The Vinh, Nguyen Thai Hoc, Nguyen Hue, Ket Doan, and Phan Van Tri.

Huynh Khuong Ninh, Tran Van On, Minh Duc, Vo Truong Toan, Nguyen Du Secondary Schools, Luong The Vinh Secondary - High School enroll students for grade 6 integrated English program.

Admission requirements are as follows:

Students complete primary school program in English under Project 5695.

According to the Pearson English system: Students must have a PEIC (PTE Young Learners) certificate at Quickmarch level (Pass - minimum number of stars 3/5 stars).

According to the Cambridge English system: Students must have a Flyer certificate (minimum number of shields 12/15 shields).

According to the ETS system: Students must have a TOEFL Primary level 2 certificate with a minimum of 3/4 badges (TOEFL Primary, Step 2, 3 badges).

Students must pass the program's English Placement test.

Students need to have one of the above certificates or must take the program's English proficiency test (Placement test).

If the number of integrated classes is not enough as allocated, the school will develop a plan to recruit more students from the approved list (if they have the required English proficiency and the students' parents commit to studying the integrated program until the end of grade 9).

The remaining secondary schools in District 1 organize English enhancement programs and enroll 6th grade students with the following conditions:

Students completing grade 5 need one of the following international certificates:

• Pearson PEIC (PTE Young Learners) Young Learners Quickmarch scores from Pass level - minimum 3/5 stars or higher.
• FLYERS: 10 or more shields.
• TOEFL Primary: Minimum of 3 badges on the TOEFL Primary step 2 test.
• Other international certificates at level A2 or higher.
• Participate in the entrance exam and assessment of English proficiency for students of secondary schools (in case the number of students registering for entrance exceeds the school's capacity).

The Chinese language enhancement program is held at Khai Minh Primary School and Minh Duc and Chu Van An Secondary Schools.
