Doctor Luong Thi Noi, Head of Mau Son Commune Health Station, said: With 13 medical staff and a network of 19 population collaborators in 19 villages, we have implemented propaganda work flexibly, in accordance with the characteristics of each population group. Every year, from the beginning of the year, we issue plans, allocate specific targets, and focus on diversifying forms of propaganda from direct, traditional to digital technology applications.
Propaganda activities focus on direct consultation and home-based mobilization, helping to solve problems such as: consultation on prenatal screening - newborn screening; benefits of premarital health check-up consultation; control of gender imbalance at birth... In the first 9 months of 2025, specialized staff and the commune population collaborators have communicated to nearly 70 households, including many disadvantaged, poor and near-poor households. In parallel, the Commune Health Station has organized 25 direct communication consultation sessions with over 2,000 listeners; 15 community communication sessions with over 540 listeners.
Along with direct propaganda, other forms of propaganda are still maintained and promoted by the commune. Specifically, the commune loudspeaker system is maintained to broadcast regularly 2 sessions/day (10 minutes each session) to convey information about the current situation, causes and consequences of gender imbalance at birth, the Commune Health Station distributes 1,205 documents and leaflets to local people.
The highlight of the propaganda work in Mau Son is that the Health Station has coordinated with organizations to actively communicate through social networks. A typical form of communication is via zalo. Currently, 19/19 villages have zalo groups of mass organizations, and population collaborators have taken advantage of them to communicate through these groups. In the first 9 months of 2025, station staff and village health teams, population collaborators coordinated indirect communication through zalo groups with 640 listeners and viewers.
Ms. Leo Thi Tinh, a population collaborator of Ban Thin village, Mau Son commune, said: The village has over 176 households with 751 people. Because the large area after the merger makes it difficult to propagate, in addition to direct propaganda, we take advantage of zalo, facebook and the village's own group. The zalo groups support personalizing the content of advice on controlling gender imbalance or the benefits of prenatal screening in a sensitive way, maintaining privacy. Thanks to that, we help provide information and data on population fluctuations to the Commune Health Station. Up to now, in the village, nearly 100% of couples use contraceptive methods, family planning...
Taking advantage of social networks for propaganda not only helps population officers overcome geographical difficulties but also creates a quick and effective channel of interaction. Ms. Nong Thi Bien, Mau Son commune shared: Currently, all information on population policy and family planning is updated very quickly by village and commune health workers through the village's zalo and facebook groups. Through these channels, we receive advice from health workers on appropriate family planning measures, making implementation much more effective. My husband and I have proactively applied the policy, deciding to stop at two children to have the most time to take care of our children.
Thanks to the diverse and effective implementation of population communication work, Mau Son commune has achieved outstanding results in population and family planning work such as Khuoi Cap village and Tra Ky village having no third child for 3 consecutive years; from the beginning of 2025 up to now, the rate of couples using contraceptives has reached nearly 70%, an increase of 0.15% over the same period in 2024, 100% of people in the commune are mobilized to implement family planning; 76% of newborns are screened at birth; 100% of children of reproductive age are fully vaccinated...
