Cao Pendant Quang Vinh has his first chance to wear the national team jersey after officially becoming a Vietnamese citizen since last March. Quang Vinh is in very good form for the Hanoi Police, especially in the Southeast Asian Cup C1 when he and his home team reached the final, with a strong performance.

Jason Pendant Quang Vinh was born in Sarcelles, France. His father is French of Martinique origin and his mother is Vietnamese. After many years of playing in France and the US, Jason Quang Vinh came to Vietnam.

On the day of his debut with the Hanoi Police Club, the player born in 1997 expressed that he would try his best to contribute to his home team and further, the opportunity to play for the Vietnam national team.

Coach Polking commented: “This is a great player and has an excellent performance. We had a hard time when he first arrived, not fully adapted to the team's style of play. But now Jason Quang Vinh is great, plays safely and has a good personality."

Mr. Tran Anh Tu - Vice President of Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) once expressed his opinion: "Quang Vinh is a potential player. He is quite young and plays in the position that needs to be strengthened, which is the full-back position left by Doan Van Hau. Although VFF has provided a lot of support, many factors are needed for Van Hau to recover and return. This is a very difficult case.

If we have Quang Vinh, I think Van Hau's vacant position will be filled, which is good for the team. However, we still have to consider whether Quang Vinh is suitable for the coach's tactics or not. If so, he will definitely be called up."

After many efforts in the Hanoi Police uniform, Jason Quang Vinh has officially joined the Vietnam national team. He is the next overseas Vietnamese player after Dang Van Lam and Filip Nguyen to join the national team and receive many expectations.

When he first joined the Vietnamese team, Quang Vinh was confident in his ability to integrate: “I think I will be fine. I can adapt quickly. I will try my best for the team.”

Evaluating the new environment, Quang Vinh said he felt very close: “As soon as I met him, coach Kim asked me if I was tired because I had just competed before. He said if I was tired, I should rest, because everyone had to be in the best condition when joining the national team. I found him to be a very, very good coach because he always cared about the players' feelings. The team atmosphere was very friendly. Everyone talked comfortably, laughed and welcomed me like a family member. It was very similar to my Hanoi Police Club.”

After Doan Van Hau suffered a long-term injury, his replacements such as Van Khang, Minh Trong or Hong Duy have not really fulfilled this role well. With Quang Vinh in the squad, the Vietnamese team will be stronger and this player is expected to diversify the playing style of the Vietnamese team.

It is expected that on June 6, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will travel to Malaysia and have three more days of training, getting used to the weather and field conditions before entering the match against host Malaysia at Bukit Jalil Stadium, Kuala Lumpur.

Quang Vinh once faced off against Malaysia captain Dion Cools in the final of the 2024-2025 Southeast Asian Cup C1. Commenting on this player, Quang Vinh said: “He is a good player, solid defender, good technique. If we were on the field together, it would be a good match between us, or between him and Van Vi.”

This match is of "pivotal" significance in the race for the top spot in Group F, which means a ticket to the 2027 Asian Cup Finals.

Coach Cristiano Roland is proud of U16 Vietnam

On June 2, the Vietnam U16 team returned home after finishing their journey at the CFA Team China 2025 U16 International Tournament. Although most of the players were participating in an international tournament for the first time, the Vietnam U16 team left many impressions against strong opponents such as Australia, China and Saudi Arabia.

Sharing about the journey, head coach Cristiano Roland could not hide his emotions: “I am very proud and congratulate all the players. I understand the importance and the requirements needed to prepare for each match. From the first days of training to the matches in the tournament, all work is aimed at helping the players progress and develop, especially learning how to play modern football with high speed and intensity. Three weeks is not a long time, but most of the players have matured a lot, showing a serious attitude in training and competition.”

After the comeback match to force the host U16 China to share the points with a score of 2-2, coach Cristiano Roland emphasized: “Each player carries within them the strength of the Vietnamese people. When that strength is maximized, no obstacle can defeat them. Even if the opponent is stronger, the conditions are better, but with the quality and spirit of Vietnam, they can still overcome. They have the right to be proud of that.”

In the final match of the 2025 CFA Team China U16 International Championship, host U16 China surprisingly won 5-2 against U16 Australia, thereby winning the championship. This result also means that coach Cristiano Roland and his team finished in third place overall with 4 points (losing 1-2 to Australia, drawing 2-2 with China and winning 2-1 against Saudi Arabia).
