Up to this point, the damage to the livestock sector of the whole province is very large, of which Quang Yen town has 74,000 poultry and 580 cattle of 258 households. Difficulties piled up, but immediately after cleaning up the storm debris, many households in the town urgently started to restore their livestock.

Quang Yen town is the locality with the second most damaged livestock and poultry out of 10 districts, towns and cities in the province affected by the recent storm No. 3. In particular, Dong Mai ward suffered the largest damage in the livestock sector with 32,143 heads and up to 93% of the damaged livestock were poultry. Most of the livestock households had their barn roofs blown off, and livestock and poultry were flooded and swept away.
Mr. Doan Van Manh, Bieu Nghi area, Dong Mai ward, shared: After the storm, my family's breeding area only had 900 30-day-old and 70-day-old hybrid fighting chickens left. The number of damaged chickens was more than 1,000 and the entire barn was destroyed. The more I looked at the barn, the more I felt sorry for it, but I thought that I was a farmer all year round, attached to livestock and crops, so I couldn't neglect it and had to urgently clean up and restore the barn to continue raising livestock. Therefore, as soon as the wind stopped and the rain stopped, I immediately started cleaning and restoring the barn. Up to now, 8/10 barns have been completed and 1,500 new chickens have been brought in to sell during the Lunar New Year.

The livestock herd of Quang Yen town has a total of more than 280,000 animals. Of which, the number of livestock recently damaged accounts for 26% of the total livestock and poultry herd of the town. To urgently restore production and compensate for the damaged livestock and poultry, the town has directed the Communes and wards guide livestock households to carry out disinfection and sterilization and register chemical and vaccine needs to serve the disinfection and sterilization work to prevent epidemics. Along with that, the town has directed communes and wards to urgently verify the damage. Up to now, 11/19 wards and communes have completed the review and established a Council to appraise damage support records; established a support team to synthesize reports, support the resolution of difficulties and obstacles in implementation, thereby promptly disbursing support to households.

Mr. Do Hong Hung, Deputy Head of the Economic Department of Quang Yen Town, said: Through the review and statistics of the communes, wards as well as the Economic Department, up to now, the affected livestock households have basically overcome the consequences to ensure good conditions for herd restoration and production restoration. Currently, the town is also preparing to implement the second vaccination plan of 2024, so along with guiding households to make initial declarations to register for vaccination vaccines to ensure compliance with the actual situation as well as support the implementation of the livestock production plan from now until the end of the year. The town has requested specialized agencies to review and evaluate the supply of livestock and poultry breeds from breeding suppliers to ensure the restoration of livestock farming.
Up to this point, in the entire Quang Yen town, 50% of the affected livestock households have restored production and are focusing on developing livestock to ensure stable growth, providing food sources to serve consumer needs from now until Tet.
