US President Donald Trump has signed the largest trade deal of the year with the European Union (EU), applying a 15% import tax on most EU goods and accompanied by a commitment of $600 billion worth of investment from the bloc in the US.
The deal surpasses the $550 billion deal signed with Japan last week, which also included a 15% reciprocal tariff.
US and Chinese officials also concluded two days of talks in Stockholm. Although no major breakthroughs were made, the two sides agreed to extend a 90-day tariff truce that had been in place since mid-May.

If the current trend continues, the EUR is on track to post its first monthly decline against the USD this year.
“After a sharp decline in the first half of the year, the dollar started July with a bounce. The question now is whether this is a trend reversal or simply an overdue technical correction,” said Marc Chandler, managing director at Bannockburn Global Forex.
The USD fell slightly by 0.05% against the Japanese Yen, to 148.465 Yen/USD. In contrast, the USD increased by 0.28% against the Swiss Franc, to 0.806 Franc/USD.
