Several billionaires want to buy Man Utd. (Source: PA) |
Billionaire Sheikh Jassim ready to buy Man Utd
According to Sky Sport , British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe held meetings with Man Utd's leadership last week to discuss taking over the team, but he said he would not pay a "stupid" price for the club.
The INEOS group chief executive and his team spent six hours at Old Trafford and Carrington last week in discussions with current Man Utd leaders.
"How do you decide the price of a painting? How do you decide the price of a house? It has nothing to do with how much it costs to build or how much it costs to paint," Sir Jim Ratcliffe said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.
"What you don't want to do is pay a stupid price to get everything, because then you'll regret it."
However, Ratcliffe said his interest in Man Utd would "be winning everything" and called the club a "community asset".
Ratcliffe appeared outside Old Trafford after meeting club executives - unlike Sheikh Jassim, who did not personally travel to Manchester last week.
However, US sources said that talks last Thursday in Manchester between billionaire Sheikh Jassim's Qatari delegation and Man Utd executives were positive.
Sheikh Jassim's advisers are now working on a new bid expected tomorrow (March 22).
Previously, Qatari investors were determined not to pay the price demanded by the Glazers. According to some sources, the difference in value between the two sides was quite large. However, after more than 10 hours of direct discussion at Old Trafford, it seems that Sheikh Jassim's delegation has given in and is ready to increase the bid.
Sheikh Jassim has been to Old Trafford as a fan before and the focus of the Qatari delegation's recent visit was to gain an insight into what they could do with investment in terms of infrastructure, youth development and the women's team at Man Utd.

According to the Daily Mail, Man Utd are particularly interested in Japanese star Kaoru Mitoma of Brighton. (Source: The Sun) |
Man Utd "watching" Kaoru Mitoma
Japanese star Kaoru Mitoma has been impressive this season. In his last 14 games, Mitoma has contributed to 11 goals for Brighton (8 goals, 3 assists).
That made him the target of many big clubs.
Man Utd are not out of the race to sign this player. Daily Mail said that the Red Devils have sent scouts to closely follow Mitoma. They see the Japanese star as an important factor in the process of building the club.
Meanwhile, according to The Sun , at each Brighton match, there are many scouts from many other Premier League clubs such as Liverpool, Newcastle, and Tottenham also present to "watch" Mitoma.
Ironically, Man Utd will also have the opportunity to "watch live" Mitoma when they face Brighton in the FA Cup semi-finals next month.
Brighton chief executive Paul Barber admitted there was interest in the Japanese star, saying: "Mitoma and a few of our other players are attracting interest. However, Brighton does not survive on selling players."
Mitoma was born in 1997. He is known for his speed and technique. This player is highly appreciated by experts for his passing, dribbling and finishing ability.
Coach De Zebri is the one who helped Mitoma's talent reach new heights.
Now, Mitoma is valued at 20 million pounds by Transfermarkt . However, according to predictions, Man Utd may have to spend 35-40 million pounds to own the star born in 1997.

On their homepage, Man Utd announced: "Number 10 suffered an injury and required treatment after a collision with Aleksandar Mitrovic before this player scored the opening goal for the away team Fulham.
Rashford was then taken off in the 83rd minute to make way for Fred".
With the announcement from the Manchester club, Rashford cannot join the England team in the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers.
This striker has had to work hard for Man Utd recently and was injured in the match against Fulham in the FA Cup quarter-finals last weekend.

Man Utd defenders Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw are still in coach Gareth Southgate's plans for the Euro 2024 qualifiers. This is the first time the "Three Lions" have gathered since losing 1-2 to France in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup.
England will have two Euro 2024 qualifiers on March 24 and March 26, against Italy in Napoli and Ukraine at Wembley Stadium respectively.
