On the afternoon of August 7, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) conducted the draw for the qualifying round of the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship.

The qualifying round has 27 teams, divided into 8 groups, including 3 groups of 4 teams and 5 groups of 3 teams. According to the draw results, the U17 women's team of Vietnam is in the very easy group D with Hong Kong and Guam.

Previously, AFC assigned the right to host a group in the qualifying round to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF). Therefore, the Vietnam U17 women's team will play at home in the upcoming qualifying round and have a greater chance of winning a ticket to the final round.

The top eight teams from each group will qualify for the finals, along with four teams that competed at the 2025 U17 Women's World Cup: North Korea, Japan, South Korea and China.

According to the plan, the 2026 AFC U17 Championship qualifiers will take place from October 13 to 17. The final round will take place from April 30 to May 17, 2026. The top four teams of the final round will qualify for the 2026 U17 Women's World Cup.

In the second qualifying round of Group B of the 2024 AFC U17 Women's Championship in Hanoi , the Vietnam U17 women's team failed to qualify for the finals after losing 0-1 to the Philippines U17 women's team in the decisive match. The two teams that qualified for the finals at that time were Australia U17 women's team and Philippines U17 women's team.
