The Vietnam U21 women's volleyball team lost 1-3 to Chile in the match for 17th-20th place at the 2025 U21 World Championship. Although it was not a surprise, the efforts of coach Nguyen Trong Linh's team are still commendable.
Not only the highest fighting spirit, the Vietnamese girls also left their mark in terms of expertise. Notably, the main striker Pham Quynh Huong had an excellent day of competition. The main striker born in 2008 was the best scorer of U21 Vietnam with 17 points, including 13 points for attack and 4 points for blocking.
Quynh Huong can continue to be the attacking option used by coach Nguyen Trong Linh in the match against the Dominican Republic. Besides, Anh Thao, Thuy Linh, Bich Hue are also ready to "burn" themselves out for the farewell match of the tournament.

As for the opponents, the Dominican Republic is considered to have average quality at this year's world tournament. The Central American representative ranked 5/6 in the group stage with 1 win and 4 losses. In the match for 17-20th place, they lost 0-3 to Canada.
Canada was the loser of U21 Vietnam in the group stage, so as long as they play their best, Lan Vy and her teammates will get what they need: a victory.
More than ever, the Vietnamese girls are eager to defeat the Dominican Republic, after experiencing many incidents at the world championship. Winning is also an affirmation of the determination, bravery and maturity of the young athletes at this year's tournament.
The Vietnam women's volleyball match vs Dominican Republic takes place at 4:00 p.m. on August 16.
