On the evening of October 6, the U23 Vietnam coaching staff called up Le Dinh Long Vu and Nguyen Le Phat to replace Dinh Xuan Tien and Nguyen Ngoc My. Xuan Tien suffered a thigh strain, Ngoc My suffered a right adductor injury. Both players did not recover in time to go to the UAE for training and were forced to stay in the country.

Despite leaving U23 Vietnam, Dinh Xuan Tien and Nguyen Ngoc My still have a chance to play in SEA Games 33 and U23 Asia 2026 if they work hard in the future. Both players are playing very well in V-League at the moment, with 1 goal and 1 assist after 6 and 5 matches for The Cong - Viettel and Thanh Hoa respectively.

Dinh Xuan Tien was born in 2003, from Nghe An . Nguyen Ngoc My was born in 2004, from Thanh Hoa. Before Ngoc My debuted and shone in U23 Vietnam in 2025, Xuan Tien appeared at this team level a few years ago and won 2 U23 Southeast Asian championships (in 2022 and 2023).

On the morning of October 7, 23 U23 Vietnam players left for the UAE for training. The team is expected to arrive in Doha in the evening of the same day, with about a week of training here.

Acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh shared: "With this October training session, head coach Kim Sang Sik discussed very specifically about technical skills. The team needs to focus on passing ability, maintaining reasonable team distance and creating space behind the defense."

In the UAE, U23 Vietnam will play two friendly matches with U23 Qatar on October 9 and 13. This is a step in the preparation roadmap for the 33rd SEA Games and the 2026 Asian U23 Championship of U23 Vietnam.

"It is very useful to meet a high-level opponent like U23 Qatar. These two matches will help the coaching staff better assess potential, adaptability and identify more quality players to report to coach Kim Sang Sik, thereby preparing well for the next training sessions," Mr. Dinh Hong Vinh shared before the team departed.
