The development and promulgation of the Decision regulating waste management and implementing preferential policies and support for waste management activities in Ca Mau province aims to detail the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Environmental Protection 2020, creating consistency in waste management as well as preferential policies and support in waste management. At the same time, it enhances the participation and coordination of provincial departments, branches, authorities at all levels and enterprises in environmental protection work in the province.
Regulations on waste management and implementation of preferential policies and support for waste management activities in Ca Mau province, including 03 Chapters and 29 Articles, stipulate the following contents: Collection, transportation and treatment of medical solid waste; waste management and implementation of preferential policies and support for waste management activities; encouragement of separate classification of hazardous waste in domestic solid waste generated by households and individuals; classification, collection, transportation and treatment of bulky waste; management of domestic solid waste of households and individuals in the province. The specific provisions are as follows:
- Classification, storage, transportation and treatment of industrial waste;
- Classification, storage, transportation and treatment of hazardous waste;
- Management of wastewater, dust, exhaust gas and other pollutants;
- Classification, storage, transfer, collection and treatment of domestic solid waste;
- Classification, storage, transportation and treatment of medical waste;
- Responsibilities of relevant agencies and units in implementing regulations on waste management and implementing preferential policies and support for waste management activities in Ca Mau province.
According to the above Regulations, domestic solid waste of households and individuals in Ca Mau province must be classified at source in accordance with management and treatment purposes according to the following groups:
- Waste that can be reused or recycled: waste paper; waste plastic; waste metal; waste glass (bottles, jars, vases, glass and crystal decorations that are still intact) and does not include packaging containing pesticides, acids, industrial grease, detergents with hazardous ingredients) ; fabrics, leather goods; wooden furniture; rubber; discarded electrical and electronic equipment;
- Food waste: leftover food; expired food; vegetables, tubers, fruits and waste after food preparation and processing; waste products from livestock and poultry meat; aquatic and seafood.
- Other domestic solid waste: hazardous waste; bulky solid waste and other remaining waste.

Decision No. 05/2017/QD-UBND dated March 28, 2017 of the Provincial People's Committee promulgating regulations on urban solid waste management in Ca Mau province ceases to be effective from the effective date of this Decision.
