Do Son Ward People's Committee was assigned to preside over the organization of the buffalo fighting festival in 2025.

On September 12, according to information from the People's Committee of Do Son Ward (Hai Phong City), the 2025 Do Son Traditional Buffalo Fighting Festival will take place from September 22 to 30.

This is the first year the festival is hosted by Do Son ward, after the implementation of the arrangement of administrative units and the cessation of the district-level administrative unit. Previously, it was organized by the People's Committee of Do Son district, Hai Phong city (old).

According to Mr. Pham Hoang Tuan - Vice Chairman of Do Son Ward People's Committee, the festival this year is titled "Do Son Buffalo Fighting Festival VTV 2025", with the participation of Do Son and Nam Do Son wards.

Do Son Buffalo Fighting Festival VTV 2025 continues to maintain the traditional organization ritual, which has been recognized as a national intangible heritage, consisting of 2 parts. The Ceremony part includes cultural rituals such as Incense Offering Ceremony, Water Procession Ceremony and Champion Buffalo Sacrifice Ceremony... according to local customs.

The festival will feature 16 fighting buffaloes called "buffaloes", carefully selected, cared for and trained, hoping to contribute to intense, fierce fights, demonstrating bravery and martial spirit.

This year, the Organizing Committee will increase the prize money: First prize is 100 million VND (increase of 30 million VND), Second prize is 70 million VND (increase of 30 million VND), and Third prize is 30 million VND each (increase of 10 million VND).

The festival will be widely broadcast, broadcast live on channels and digital platforms of Vietnam Television, Hai Phong Radio and Television. The organizers also arranged large LED screens outside the stadium, so that those who cannot enter the stadium can still enjoy the matches.

Also according to Vice Chairman of Do Son Ward People's Committee Pham Hoang Tuan, in order to unify the coordination in organization, from now on, the Do Son traditional buffalo fighting festival will be managed and organized by Do Son People's Committee.
