Artists confronting the public and anti-fans is a useless and foolish battle because it cannot eliminate the source of the problem while the consequences are unpredictable .
Recently, the online community discussed the harsh response of singer Noo Phuoc Thinh to a netizen. Specifically, the account "Huy Bui" commented "Chi Thinh" under the post, this singer responded: "Yes, Ms. Huy B*** (offensive words - PV). I'll see what you do" with the profile picture of this account.
After that, Noo Phuoc Thinh apologized for making the audience and fans see negative information about him outside of music as well as 'not being strong enough to face problems skillfully'.

When artists can't control their emotions and become 'aggressive'
Except in cases where internet users fabricate, slander or insult honor and dignity, which constitutes a violation of the law, Vietnamese artists have different ways of responding to negative comments.
Some famous names responded to netizens. Before the above incident, in 2017, Noo Phuoc Thinh caused controversy because of a video in which he said: "If you feel too free, do something useful like picking up trash, cleaning toilets, why come here to make bad comments?". Many other times, he responded in a 'tit for tat' manner with the profile picture of that account.
Singer Le Quyen specializes in responding with harsh, vulgar language. When attacked or criticized, she advocates lowering the appearance, social status and assets of internet users while simultaneously exalting herself, such as: "living at the bottom of society", "never touching a designer bag", "not having money to buy an iPhone"...
Singer Dam Vinh Hung and his close friend - singer Vu Ha are ready to respond harshly to any negative comments. In particular, Dam Vinh Hung often takes pictures of his response to affirm that he is a 'forbidden land' while Vu Ha loudly curses and insults the other side.
Ly Nha Ky is also famous for her 'not easy to touch' side. Many accounts with mixed comments received 'bitter fruit' because this beauty was not afraid to use harsh words to respond.

Some artists who have caused controversy because of their online behavior include: Duy Manh, Khac Viet, Tuan Hung, Tran Thanh, Thuy Tien, Xuan Bac...
Don't chat with internet users.
The above incidents boil down to two points: they cannot stop netizens from making negative, contradictory comments, and what remains in the end is always information about Vietnamese artists swearing and cursing instead of netizens being aggressive.
Artists and celebrities in general in Vietnam and around the world enjoy similar rights, bear similar responsibilities and face similar problems.
They contribute value to society, create influence on the masses, receive many incentives and live off of fame and image. The influence of artists and celebrities can have both positive and negative impacts, so they need to be responsible to the community.
Artists and celebrities in all entertainment industries are under pressure to maintain their image and reputation; pressure to be eliminated; lack of privacy and loneliness; the existence of anti-fans and crazy fans...
The cultural differences between the East and the West have led to the entertainment markets of Vietnam, China, Korea, Thailand, Japan... increasingly tending to promote the ethics and lifestyle of artists and celebrities.
In professionally operated markets, the words, attitudes, behaviors, and costumes of artists and celebrities can be converted into cash; on the contrary, those who violate ethics or live improperly can be boycotted and lose the ability to make money through image and reputation.

K-Pop artists are well-trained in public behavior and attitude. |
Newcomers are often trained in public speaking skills as part of their basic training. Therefore, they are aware of their influence and accept the obvious negativity of the crowd. For example, after every scandal in China, artists who did nothing wrong always apologize for contributing to the influence of the public internet space and causing trouble for the public.
Therefore, Vietnamese artists cannot use the excuse of living truthfully, freedom of speech or 'not being able to hold back' to respond or even swear on social networks - an act that violates community responsibility.
The battle between artists and celebrities against the public and anti-fans is pointless, foolish and unequal because it cannot eliminate the source of the problem while the consequences are unpredictable.
Many people, such as singer Huong Giang, have suffered serious financial losses because they tried to retaliate against anti-fans. Indirectly, they caused resentment, tarnished their image, and left a bad reputation for many years to come.
Can get into trouble with the 'internet is virtual' mindset
Internet users who intentionally fabricate, slander or insult the honor and dignity of artists and celebrities can completely become defendants in a civil or even criminal case.

In Vietnam, individuals have the right to image, the right to protection of honor, dignity, reputation and the right to private life, personal secrets, and family secrets as stipulated in the 2015 Civil Code. Some acts may be subject to administrative penalties or constitute the crime of slander or the crime of humiliating others as stipulated in the 2015 Penal Code.
In large markets like Korea and China, management companies are willing to sue internet users to protect their artists. For example, Pham Bang Bang is known as the 'Queen of Lawsuits', earning several million to tens of millions of yuan each year by suing individuals and organizations that violate image rights, insult or fabricate and slander that affects honor and reputation.
A group of internet users have the mindset that 'the internet is virtual', taking advantage of their professional characteristics to attack artists and celebrities in a way that is illegal, unethical, and contrary to the good traditions of the Vietnamese people. Both sides need to be self-aware and self-conscious in adjusting their behavior and attitude, and together move towards a civilized and healthy internet environment.
